FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CHARLES MORFORD

Died Aug. 1; Spent Most of His Life in This County

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Mansfield Funeral Home for Charles N. Morford whose death occurred the previous Tuesday. Widely known and liked because of his genial disposition Mr. Morford had a large circle of friends, many of whom attended the final rites.

Mr. Morford worked at odd jobs around Malvern for many years and his skill and efficiency were such that he was nearly always in demand. For several years he served as custodian of the Community building.

Music for the services was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Short and pall bearers were
***B__ Houser, Clifford Parker, Vernon Crouse, Ed Hathaway, Glenn Eacrett and Fred Lookabill.

Rev. C.A. Calkins, who conducted the services, read the following obituary:

"Charles Nathan Morford was born in Malvern, Ia., Feb. 10, 1874, and passed away Aug. 1, 1939, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Thomas, in Malvern.

"He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Morford who preceded him in death several years ago.

"On Jan. 25, 1912, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Emerick of Malvern. To this union two children were born -- Vivian Carter of Council Bluffs and Dale of Malvern, who with one grandchild, survive him.

"He also leaves to mourn his passing three brothers. A.C. of Eugene, Ore., S.J. of Brush, Colo., C.H. of Glenwood and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Thomas of Malvern, Mrs. W.H. Jones of Gordon, Neb., Mrs. Mina Buckingham of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Myrtle Good of Emerson and many other relatives and numerous friends.

"His entire life was spent in Mills county with the exception of a few years spent in Colorado after the death of his wife in 1919."

MY NOTE: The quote marks at the beginning of each paragraph are in the original newspaper article. I also could not read the first name of the pallbearer
***HOUSER - it began with a "B". vlww
