FAY M. MORFORD, 72
Services were today in Council Bluffs for Fay M. Morford, 72 of Council Bluffs.
He died Friday in a Council Bluffs hospital.
Morford was born in Glenwood and lived in Council Bluffs for the last 40 years.
He farmed for many years in the Council Bluffs area, then operated a grocery
store before retiring in 1963. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars and member of First Christian Church of Glenwood.
Survivors include his wife, Glenne; a daughter, Sharon McDowell of Council
Bluffs; three sons, Merrill of Antlers, Okla., Richard of Glenwood and James of
Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Gladys Petty of Glenwood, Opal Branson of
Sacramento and Vivian Newman of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Beryl of Aurora,
Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were at Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Kilgore
officiating. Interment was at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with VFW Post No. 737
conducting military rites. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart
Association.
