Descendants of Robert (1st) ERRIDGE from England to America

Notes

1. Robert (1st) ERRIDGE

MY NOTES:  At this point [9 Feb 2002] I did not have any info concerning William Erridge except his given name, surname and that his wife was Sarah West Atwell.  I then received an  Email from May Newman dated Saturday, February 09, 2002    1:05 PM
Just to set the picture:
1 Gen:  At the end of the 1600's there was a Robert Erridge who married an Elizabeth,
2 Gen:  then a Robert who married a Mary.  This latter family had nine children,
3 Gen:  one of whom was an Edward, who is my direct ancestor.   He married a Mary Reynolds  1762.
3 Gen:  Another son, Robert, who married a Mary Estes  in 1754, is your direct ancestor.  Your Robert was ch 04 Feb 1727 at Ringwould and married Mary Estes 21Jan 1754 at Deal.
4 Gen:  Their second son, Nicholas, ch 23 Mar 1757m married a Mary Packer 06 Jan 1784 at Deal.
5 Gen:  Their second son, Edward, ch 16 Nov 1798 married a Mary Ann Jarman 22 Jul 1823.
6 Gen:  Their son, William Thomas, ch 10 Jan 1834, Deal married Sarah West Atwell, 27 Aug 1854 at Deal.

I realize this is not the correct way to go about a "tree" but it gives you something immediately to look at.  The Erridge men were for the most part mariners, living as they did on the east coast, in Deal and Ringwould.  They also manned lifeboats, a very dangerous task, so if they weren't drowned while on their own tasks, they were likely to drown while assisting others.  If you are interested in this aspect of their lives, I have a number of pages taken from The Heroes of Goodwin Sands which were sent to me by one of the researchers with whom I am in contact.  I will gladly photocopy the sheets and send them by snail mail if you give me your address.                     May

"Hi Vicky, I don't know if May has mentioned me but I'm also descended from the Erridge's, and  nearly forgot, my names Bob Hook.  ...... I thought you might like a copy of the Last Will of Robert Erridge 1737. It might help with what your doing. I can't take any of the credit for it, that must go to Pat Davis who transcribed the original,  as you'll see at the end of the Will , her husband is descended from one of Twins, and I'm from the other one.
Hope you find the attached will of interest. Best wishes. Bob, Newmarket, England

The village of Ringwould lies on the A258 between Dover and Deal in the county of Kent, England. Ringwould can trace its beginnings back 2000 years, one of the oldest coins found in Kent was found in Ringwould. It is a small village numbering only 170 houses with a population of approximately 360.

Church of St Nicholas Ringwould with Oxney:  The church of St Nicholas was founded in the 12th Century.  The present church, now over 800 years old, is situated on rising ground overlooking the English Channel. The building is thought to date from around 1130, the first Rector of Ringwould being recorded as Everadus in 1153. It is possible that a wooden building previously stood on the site as the village has had settlements since the Bronze Age, and Saxon graves were recorded nearby.  The present building is certainly predated by the two mighty yew trees in the churchyard, the easternmost one having been aged as 1300 years and the other at 1000 years.  Bell ringing. The church has six bells, these are normally rung before the morning service starting at 9am.
