Just to set the picture:
1 Gen: At the end of the 1600's there was a Robert Erridge who married an Elizabeth,
2 Gen: then a Robert who married a Mary. This latter family had nine children, one of whom was an Edward, who is my direct ancestor. He married a Mary Reynolds 1762.
3 Gen: Another son, Robert, who married a Mary Estes in 1754, is your direct ancestor. Your Robert was ch 04 Feb 1727 at Ringwould and married Mary Estes 21Jan 1754 at Deal.
4 Gen: Their second son, Nicholas, ch 23 Mar 1757m married a Mary Packer 06 Jan 1784 at Deal.
5 Gen: Their second son, Edward, ch 16 Nov 1798 married a Mary Ann Jarman 22 Jul 1823.
6 Gen: Their son, William Thomas, ch 10 Jan 1834, Deal married Sarah West Atwell, 27 Aug 1854 at Deal.
I realize this is not the correct way to go about a "tree" but it gives you something immediately to look at. The Erridge men were for the most part mariners, living as they did on the east coast, in Deal and Ringwould. They also manned lifeboats, a very dangerous task, so if they weren't drowned while on their own tasks, they were likely to drown while assisting others. If you are interested in this aspect of their lives, I have a number of pages taken from The Heroes of Goodwin Sands which were sent to me by one of the researchers with whom I am in contact. I will gladly photocopy the sheets and send them by snail mail if you give me your address.
1 NAME Mary /Packer/
Name of Mary Packer comes from May Newman of Canada.
Ann Blown (wid)
MY NOTE: Does this mean she was a widow when she married William (Ralph) Erridge????
