Hi, Vicky:  Just a quick reply to let you know I received your response and to tell you that there has been a lot of research done on the Erridge family in Deal by a number of people.  Unfortunately, I do not have it all on computer but we will figure that one out shortly.  At the moment I can tell you that Sarah West Atwell Erridge decided to emigrate to the US after the drowning in the North Sea of her husband, William.  As far as I know she took all five of her children with her.  Her daughter, Sarah West Erridge married John Warren Sheffield 08 Sep 1874 at Juniette, Nebraska.

Several years ago Mrs. Mattley removed to Ord, where she had her home at the time of her death.  She was well and favorably known as an early settler here and was a good neighor, a devoted mother, loyal to her home and friends.  Besides her own family, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Sheffield of Los Gatos, California and eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind a large number of friends and neighbors to mourn her passing.  Mrs. Mattley united with the Baptist Church at the age of 16, and ever after lived a consistent Christian life.  Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Ord, Sunday afternoon, Rev. J.A. Moorman being in charge.''

"Ord, the county seat of Valley county, is the terminus of the Grand Island ranch of the U.P. Ry.  It is also on the Central City and Burwell branch of the B. & M. R. R. ...... The territory from which the town draws its trade is a great grain producing country.  The Myra valley on the west regarded as containing farming land unexcelled for fertility.  It is also noted for its picturesque scenery. The public buildings and churches are creditable.  ...... one of the most important cities of north Nebraska.  The churches are the Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist and Episcopal.  The A.F. & A.M., K. of P and I.O.O.F. have lodges here.  The Ord Democrat, the Ord Weekly Quiz and the Nebraska Blizzard are the enterprising newspapers."  MY NOTE:  Have no idea where I obtained this blurp!
