"A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF THE HOLBROOKS
WILLIAM1 HOLBROOK, born about 1560, died in Glastonbury, Somersetshire, England, shortly before Feb. 1, 1626, when his will bearing date Dec. 11, 1625, was probated. He commended his soul to Almighty God and divided his earthly possessions amongst his children -- sons Thomas, John, if living, William the younger, daughter Basell Holbrook, and his three grandchildren,

Thomas Holbrook, Jr., Edmund Tyly, and Clement Weaver, Jr. His son William was executor and residuary legatee and Clement Weaver, Sr., and Thomas Tylye were overseers. (Registered Wills at Wells, General Court, 45:36.)
CHILDREN:
   I. Joane2 b. about 1587. m. at St. John's, Glastonbury, June 3, 1605, Nicholas
         Bennett, who died shortly previous to March 22, 1606, being called "Bennett
         als. Illarie" in the burial record. His widow m. (2) Randall Gylles at
         St. John's, January 14, 1609-10.
          CHILDREN [Bennett & Gylles]:
         1. Nicholas3 Bennett, bapt. the day his father was buried.
          2. Alice3 Gylles, bapt. June 23, 1611.
   II. Elizabeth2 b. about 1590; m. Sept. 12, 1611, Thomas Tylye, at St. John's.
          CHILDREN (Tylye):
         1. William,3 bapt. Dec. 7, 1614.
          2. Edmund,3 bapt. July 8, 1617.
          3. Mary,3 bapt. April 23, 1620.
  III. Thomas,2 b. about 1594; m. Sept. 12, 1616, Jane Powyes.
   IV. John,2 b. about 1595. He seems to have left home before his father made his
         will and to be out of touch with his family.
    V. Rebecca,2 b. about 1597; m. Clement Weaver and came to New England.
          CHILDREN (Weaver):
         1. Clement,3 b. before 1625.
          2. Elner,3 bapt. Sept. 10, 1623, at St. Benedict's, Glastonbury.
          3. Elizabeth,3 who m. Thomas Dungan.
   VI. William,2 b. about 1600. He had a daughter Mary, bapt. January 28, 1629-30.
  VII. Basell,2 m. January 27, 1625-6, Phillip Wrinkmore.
          CHILDREN [Wrinkmore]:
         1. Rebecca,3 bapt. Oct. 17, 1626.
          2. Anne,3 bapt. (???) 11, 1640.
          (Probably others between these two.)"

"THE HOLBROOK FAMILY
WILLIAM HOLBROOK, the father of Rebecca Holbrook (No. 925), who married Clement Weaver (No. 924), the immigrant, was born about 1560. He died in Glastonbury, Somersetshire, England, shortly before February 1, 1626, when his will dated December 11, 1625 was probated. In it he named sons--Thomas, John, William, the younger, daughter Basell Holbrook and three grandchildren--Thomas Holbrook, Jr., Edward Tyly and Clement Weaver Jr. His son, William, was executor and residuary legatee and Clement Weaver Sr. and Thomas Tylye were overseers. (Registered Wills, General Court 45, 36.) The name of his wife is not known.
He had the following children:
    1.  Joane, b. ca. 1587; m. 1st. at St. John's, Glastonbury, June 3,
          1605, Nicholas Bennett, who died before 1606; she then m.
          2nd. Jan. 14, 1609/10 at St. John's, Randal Gylles.
    2.  Elizabeth, b. ca. 1590; m. Sept. 12, 1611, at St. John's, Thomas
          Tylye.
    3.  Thomas, b. ca. 1594 in Glastonbury; d. 1675 in Weymouth,
          Mass.; m. in Glastonbury, Sept. 12, 1616, Jane Powyes. He
          emigrated to America taking passage March 20, 1634-5, when
          he was about 40 years of age. He had six children--Captain
          John, Captain William, Thomas, Anne, Elizabeth and Jane.
    4.  John, b. ca. 1595.
    5.  Rebecca (No. 925), b. ca. 1597; m. at St. John's, Glastonbury,
          Somersetshire, Eng., May 19, 1617, Clement Weaver (No.
          924), the immigrant. They came to America before 1643.
    6.  William, b. about 1600.
    7.  Basell, m. January 27, 1625-6, Phillip Wrinkmore.
