This page is going to be a mish-mash of things Disney!! First off is going to be a description of our WDW honeymoon!! :)
After the reception was seemingly over (people were begining t leave, it was close to midnight) Mike put a
blindfold on me so I couldn't see where we were going. It was to be a surprise. But I kinda figured we were going to be going to Niagara Falls tho. I could tell by the directions he was taking to get there. We stayed one night in a beautiful hotel in the Falls, overlooking the Great Gorge. Unfortunately the lights were off the water already, but we opened the window and slept soundly with the sounds of rushing water in our ears. It was wonderful.
We left there on Sunday morning. We flew out of Buffalo to Orlando (via Pittsburg). We also found out the *hard way* that Michael just doesn't fly... there goes our trip to Australia! Oh well, he managed, just won't fly again too soon I think.
We arrived in FL at about 9pm, and headed out to the Days Inn Maingate West. When we arrived, we were in a 2 double bed, smoking room. We had requested a king size room (forgot about the no smoking thing!). So I complained that we were on our honeymoon, and this would not be tolerated. So they upgraded us for free to a King Size SUITE! wow, that was awesome. We were only in it for one night tho.
On Monday, we checked out of DIMGW. We took a tour of a local resort/time share thing. It was interesting, but the guy was SOOOO pushy for us to buy! buy! BUY!! No thanks... after that, we headed to the world! We checked into Dixie Landings that afternoon. For the rest of the evening, we purused the resort, and went to Downtown Disney via boat. It was awesome, and even Mike liked the boat ride! (he hates water too...). We ate supper at the Rainforest Cafe, which altho was a bit costly, was well worth it and we recommend it to anyone who goes! It's a cool place, there is a thunderstorm every 22 minutes, fish tanks everywhere, a cool gift shop, awesome food (I had a HUGE burger with waffle fries, Mike had a seemingly endless supply of bar-b-que ribs). We had this to die for chocolate dessert to share.
We stayed in the Aligator Bayou, bldg 15, had an awesome view, and weren't too far from the pool. At the DxL General Store, we bought ourselves Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom ears!! Mike's was a top hap with ears, and mine was a white mouse hat with a veil. It was soooo cute, well worth the purchase.
On Tuesday, we went shopping at Downtown Disney and checked things out. Not much to do in the lines of eating down there. I think we ate at the food court at DxL that day. The food court there is not bad :) We took it easy in the afternoon and had a leisurely swim in the pool. We also had a characature drawn of us at the DxL lobby... it's cool.
Wednesday, we started to use our tickets for the parks. The other two days we were in places that didn't charge admission :) We had purchased five day hopper passes. Day one, Wed, saw us take in MGM studios. It was cool. I had been to WDW 2 times before but Mike had never been. MGM was new to me. We took the backlot tour (saw all kinds of neat movie stuff!), we did the Star Wars Ride (got whisked to the front of the line as we were wearing our B&G ears!!), Muppet Vision 3D/4D, had lunch at the Starlot Cafe (I think!) and left at about 8ish. We had seen it all, even the Zero to Hero parade (Hercules). Ahh, a cool thing we did was to see the Indiana Jones stunt thing! that was cool... I'd do that one again.
That night we went back to the DIMGW. Once again, I asked what kind of room we had been placed in. 2 double beds, smoking. I balked. Before we left on Monday, we had requested a king size, NON-smoking room. I told them, after they told me there weren't any available, that *I WILL NOT SLEEP IN THIS ROOM!* The other girl on desk duty said she'd look for something for us... how many in our party? duh, we had just explained that we are on our honeymoon, PLUS we were still wearing our bride and groom ears!! How many did she think were in our party!?! So they fixed us up with a nice King size room for the duration of our stay. Don't tell me you don't have it when you do!
On Thursday we hit up Epcot Centre. That was fun, but not as fun as MGM for us. We took the boat across the lagoon to the World Showcase, but we only went to France, England (had lunch at the Rose and Crown Pub - awesome fish and chips! plus free dessert for being newlyweds.. some Tiger chocolate thing... awesome :) ). It was kinda cloudy and threatening rain that day. We went thru the Future Building in the morning and some other sutff. It was getting hot, so we abandoned EC, and went to Blizzard Beach!!! Because of the cloudy skies, it wasn't too busy. I went on the double dipper drop of doom (so we lovingly referred to it as!). Mike got to the top and went back down the stairs. It was funny. Then we hit up the toboggan slides, that was fun... we had races going down, and altho Mike insists that I cheated, I won everytime!! Without cheating :) We spent a little bit of time in the wave pool (mike didn't like that the waves NEVER stop!) and then lazed around in the lazy river thing. One thing to note about that river, we enjoyed it a lot, it was relaxing! Mike told each lifeguard we passed "this is my wife!! I love her, we just got married last Saturday!!" It was soo cute! We headed back to the hotel after that for pizza and some TV before retiring for the night.
Friday, we went back to EC to catch 2 things we had missed the day before, then headed over to Magic Kingdom! wow, there is soooo much to do there! We went to Frontier Land first... took the river boat cruise, did the haunted house, had lunch at a nice restaurant (the name escapes me now), and looked around. We went thru the Castle, and then to Main Street to shop, and did Adventureland. We watched the Easter Parade from there, and then went on Splash Mountain!!! It was greeeeeaaat! We had already been on Thunder MOuntain Railroad. :) Then we went to Fantasyland and took the ride thru Small World. That was fun, but do it at the end of the day as we did and you won't be humming the tune all day!! We zipped into Mickey's Toon Town for a bit, and did Goofy's something (kids) rollercoaster... by far way too fun! After that, we got to watch the Spectro Magic Parade, at about 9pm. It was cool...altho aggravating as people were literally crushed in to watch it. We got some good pictures tho. We stuck around to watch the fireworks over Cindy's castle too, but were disappointed in them. :( Plus it was too windy for Tinkerbell to come out to set them off. oh well... another time.
On Saturday, we went back to the Magic Kingdom, and straight to Tomorrowland! We were in line for about 45 mins to get on Space Mountain. That was cool. We went on Alien Encounter (an cool thing), and Astro Orbiter, of which I almost fell out!! We had lunch outside at one of the restaurants there. In the afternoon we wandered about doing some of the things we had missed the day before.
Saturday was an early evening for us, so we headed back to the hotel about 8pm for Pizza Hut pizza in our room. We decided not to use our fifth day at the parks, and brought them home. We were getting too tired, and had to get up early on Monday to head home.
Sunday we spent lounging by the pool, it was freezing cold water, so Mike hardly went in (bok bok, chicken!). We also packed up all our stuff, and repacked so things wouldn't get broken. We took a taxi into 'town' to go to Ponderosa for supper. It was supposed to be an early evening for us as we were to be getting up at 4, to be picked up at 5am!!! But since we are die hard X-Filers, we stayed up till 1130pm watching it! Boy were we ever tired the next morning!
We got up and went to the airport to fly home on Sunday morning. Again, Mike does NOT fly. OH well... he survived. We got home to find our wedding pictures waiting for us!! How awesome... but we also had another surprise waiting at our house... our friends, who say they love us, had ransacked our house... as you can see in the photos on our honeymoon page! Needless to say, it was a big job to clean up! We had our folks over, and two Grandmothers for gift opening and cake that night... wow, we got a lot of nice stuff :)
We will be heading back to the World in the year 2000 sometime, and are already planning to do some things we wish we had done on our honeymoon:) YAY!
