"D'you miss anybody yet?"

Later that night, Diana, Walker, Ike, Abby, Tay and Zac were leaving for Tulsa. We were at the airport with them, saying good-bye. Kait was standing looking out the window while Diana, Walker, Abby, Ike and Zac checked in the luggage. Me and Tay were hugging and saying good-bye to each other.
"I'll miss you SO much!" I hold Tay tighter and kiss him softly on the lips.
"I will too. But I'll be back the day after tomorrow."
"I know." We hug again. Kait is just staring out the window blankly. Suddenly someone jumped on her from behind. She looked up and was face-to-face with Zac. He smiled innocently into her face. He had his arms wrapped around her neck and his legs wrapped around her waist.
"Hi Zac," She said. "Why did you jump on me?"
"Hi! Because you didn't say good-bye yet!"
"You aren't leaving yet, are you?"
"Well, not QUITE yet, but you have to say bye lots and you have to miss me, I mean us."
"Okay. I promise to miss you. You're only going to be gone for a day and half."
"I know, but that's plenty of time for you to miss m-us!"
"Okay." He jumped off of her back and stood in front of her.
"Now you have to give me a hug, but you can't give Tay a hug because Air might get mad, and you can't give Ike a hug, because Abby might get mad, I don't know WHY you would hug Abby, and you can hug my parents if you want, but you don't know them very well, and you can't cry."
"All right. I'll give you a hug, but not Tay or Ike or Abby or your parents, and I won't cry."
"Good." Zac wrapped his arms around her and gave her a big bear hug. She hugged him back, but not as tight. He kept his arms around her. "You have to hug tighter, so that I can't breathe for a second." She squeezed him really tight. "That's MUCH better. I lost my breath for a couple seconds." He let her go and wandered off. Kait hauled herself up onto the ledge that was right next to the window. She curled her legs up Indian style and stared out at the plane. They would be boarding soon. Tay and I walked over by her and stood next to the thin ledge that she was curled up on.
"So," Tay commented, "I saw that Zac hugged you for a long time there. He jumped on you too."
"Yeah, so?" Kait asked.
"He likes you." Tay told her. "A lot." Kait just shrugged. She didn't believe Tay.
"He told me that I could hug him, but not you because Air might get mad, and not Ike, because Abby might get mad, and not Abby, because I would have no reason to, and he told me I could hug your parents, but I didn't have to because I don't know them very well."
"It's just his little story he made up so that he could hug you."
"I don't think so."
"I do." I said.
"He has a CRUSH!!" Tay teased. Kait shrugged again. Zac came running over by us.
"Hey, what are you guys talking about??" He asked worriedly.
"Nothing." Kait said from her perch on the ledge. Zac hauled himself up onto it next to her. Tay winked at him and started to slowly pull me away from them.
When we got a safe distance away he said, "I thought we'd leave them for a minute or so." He smiled.

Kait yawned as she watched the crewmen run around the plane. She had gotten up too early, and it was too late now. She didn't even realize that Tay and Air were gone until Zac said, "Do you miss anyone yet?" She looked over at him and he smiled at her. She saw that Tay and Air were on the other side of the room laughing with Ike and Abby about something, and staring at them.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you're right here next to me, and Ike and Tay and Abby are across the room, and your parents, well I don't know them very well so I don't know why I'd even miss them at all."
"Oh." She stared back out the window and Zac scooted about two feet closer to her, without her noticing. "Are you tired?"
"Yeah." She didn't look at him. He scooted even closer. He noticed she was shivering a little bit.
"Are you cold?"
"A little." She was still wearing her outfit from supper, and it wasn't very warm. Zac had changed into big jeans, a T-shirt, and a black hood.
"Here, take my coat." He unzipped it and started to take it off.
"That's okay Zac."
"Take it. You're freezing." He put it around her shoulders and tried to put her arms through the sleeves. She finally cooperated and put the coat on. Zac zipped it up. "There. That's much better."
"Thanks." He slid closer to her so that their legs were touching. She looked at him, almost bumping noses with him.
"Body heat. You have to stay warm and not get sick." She raised her eyebrows and turned back to the window.
"Flight 256 to Tulsa Oklahoma, now boarding." The intercom said.
"I gotta go now." Zac said. "Kait?" She turned to him and he kissed her quickly on the lips. Then he jumped down and ran to where his parents were. Kait just sat there in shock. After about a minute, I called over to her to come by us. She was going to miss saying good-bye to everyone. She ran over and stood by me. She looked kind of dazed. Tay gave me one last kiss on the lips and started to follow everyone else through the gate. They were already half-way down the hall when Kait remembered that she had Zac's hood on.
"Zac!" She called. He turned around and looked at her, walking backwards. "I have your coat!" She started to take it off.
"Keep it for me while we're gone!" He called. He waved and turned back around, disappearing around a corner. She zipped the coat back up and turned to me.
"I guess we should go now."
"Yep." We turned around and started to walk.
