This is an update of August 13, 2014, Wednesday, to my 2014 Arise Festival report as an invited participant in the “Elders Wisdom Village” theme camp, there with Jack Trimper assisting Felipe Chavez of the Rainbow Family Kid Village Kitchen and a longtime Sundancer under Lakota Medicine Chief Leonard Crow Dog.
I stayed a second night last night Aug.12 in the dorm room while awaiting word from Gary about scheduling the peace pole ceremony here, at the Sunrise Ranch which hosts the Arise Festival, the room left to me by Chaitanya Massera, who is known here as “Che” over the radio with the “runners” team. He is the facilitator of the Arise Festival’s “Rainbow Lightning Children’s Village” which, according to the official Arise Festival program that I saw for the first time yesterday here in this room, “The Children’s village hosts a large community space for collaborative co-creation that incorporates the playing of musical instruments , embodied movement, dance, and theater. There are five supporting domes that promote the ARISE principles and explore creative potentials”. Chaitanya explained to us last year at the 2013 Arise Festival how he had been to so many Rainbow Family Gatherings “growing up in Kid Village” that he was inspired by that experience to undertake this Children’s Village annually at the Arise Festival. His mother Lucy McCall conducted a number of workshops and presentations on herbal healing.

Chaitanya and his wife were very impressed with the lattice design of the “human hive experiment” that I had set up, based on the tetrahedron shape combining six in a circle with the poles combined a different way, and want to make one for next year’s Arise Festival painted up like the photo I showed him which is posted at:

This is something I want to make into an open source product to stimulate a peace industry to replace jobs lost in the war industry once peace prevails on earth.

On Saturday Felipe gave a talk around the sacred fire centering the tipis set up for the elders village. In this photo Felipe is standing to the right of Cochise One Paw (in blue) who did a lot of nice drumming and singing around the fire over the course of the event, and in lower left Martin Herrera is doing the saging/smudging purification walking to participants around the circle. Jack Trimper is in center sitting with hands together. In the background is our Rainbow Uprising Campaign booth with the “six unit module” lattice comprised of six tetrahedral, unpainted, is visible.

On Sunday night there was a panel discussion with some of the folks from the elders village and included the Spiritual Director of the Sunrise Ranch host of the Arise Festival, David Karchere who also heads the Emissaries of Light communities around the world. David is second from right in this photo. Apparently our late confirmation of attendance at the Arise Festival was responsible for Felipe not being on the panel in the ranch’s Sunrise Dome.

In reality the elders village had few true indigenous elders there, especially by Hopi standards where their traditional interpreter Thomas Banyacya said in his culture those considered elders are those who are in their 80’s and 90’s and over 100 years old. Perhaps next time it will be more aptly named, an in respect of the Global Indigenous Initiative, as an “Indigenous Village” since it is focused mainly on sharing wisdom from indigenous cultures, as per its entry in the official program, “Elder’s Village – Experience the ceremonial wisdoms from a diverse array of indigenous traditions, especially that of the Native American. We come together in honor of all ages, calling upon sacred energies to bring balance to our communities, acknowledging the youth while giving space for the stories, wisdom and teachings of our elders.”
On Sunday one of those who came by the booth to get yarn sets and braid the Rainbow Peace Braids identified herself as the bass player with the band called the Wandering Monks who had played on the main stage Saturday afternoon. When I explained the story of how my grandson made a new hat for Pharell Williams with a Rainbow Peace Braid on the hatband, but did not pass on the related message for him to share, “you make them with love and they stand for the message of peace so when everyone has on we will have world peace”, she told me that she knew he would be into the message and she took extra yarn sets to make the braids for her band members, which made me very “happy.”

Arise Music Festival 2014 DCW initial report Aug12 morning
Here is my initial report of late morning Aug.12 on the Rainbow Uprising Campaign participation at the Arise Music Festival Aug.8-10, 2014, with Felipe Chavez, Jack Trimper, and me, David Williams
I drove two days straight from Santa Barbara the ~1200 miles to the Arise Festival at Sunrise Ranch in Loveland Colorado where I met Felipe and Jack in Loveland and went to the local Kinkos on arrival on Aug.7, to copy some last minute schedules and assemble literature sets with our small handout mentioning the Rainbow Uprising of Consciousness Peace Pole, explaining the Rainbow Peace Braids, “you make them with love and they stand for the message of peace so when everyone has one we will have world peace”, and explaining that Felipe and David would be doing a 2 hour presentation about the Rainbow Uprising Campaign, from Noon-2pm on Saturday Aug.9, as scheduled by the Arise Organizers at the Elder’s Wisdom Village.

We set up the three gazebo shade structures with stove and chairs as a base of operations at the southeast end of the designated Elder’s Village area among several tipi’s.
I had not finished yet painting the Arise Peace Pole and Rainbow Tetrahedron lattice and completed that by Saturday Morning Aug.9 to where they would be dry enough to be the centerpiece for our 12-2pm talk to explain the concept of the Rainbow Uprising of Consciousness Campaign and its Peace Pole as the symbol of The Message of Peace with a 2,200 year old history and modern adaptation. Here is a photo of the completed poles not yet assembled, with the big white tipi in back being the one where our presentation was scheduled.

I kept handing out the rainbow yarn bundles, to make the Rainbow Peace Braids, that I had made at the Red Bird Powwow in Moorpark last month, and gave an extra one to couples so they could braid one together as well as one for each of them. The idea was very well received and Felipe got the idea from that experience of how it is a really nice prayer so he started braiding quite a few over the course of the festival and gave most of them away to people who came by. We were taken on Saturday to the backstage area to prepare for our later brief time on stage on Sunday when I explained the Rainbow Peace Braids and invited the audience to come by our Rainbow Uprising Booth at the Elder’s Village to get yarns to braid themselves. I tried to make arrangements on Sunday with the MC then, who really liked the Rainbow Braids, to get the peace pole and lattice on stage near Nahko when he played the finale on Sunday night but that arrangement could not be made. JoJo came by the camp and got our latest literature pack but left before I could explain and give him the Rainbow Peace Braids story and samples as I had already mailed some weeks ago to Nahko who said by email that he wanted to help promote them.

Time came for our 12-2pm Saturday presentation in the large tipi so I put up the rainbow tetrahedron lattice with the peace pole inside the tipi to “set the stage” for the discussion I had been planning on since leaving home and printing on the way 1200 1/6 page handouts promoting the meeting.

The presence of the peace pole and rainbow tetrahedron lattice was so overwhelming in the tipi that Felipe decided to do a talk about water out by the fireplace instead, as here in this photo with the setup still in the tipi. As he began to end his talk he introduced Jack Trimper as his traveling companion and invited him to say some words, but resisted my attempts to gain access to talk to that circle. I did not properly provide Felipe with enough time and documents to study before that scheduled meeting for him to understand all the details about this Rainbow Uprising Campaign so I understand, but it was quite a disappointment.

I don’t think folks are prepared for the level of seriousness that I am applying now to the 2014 Rainbow Uprising of Consciousness Campaign.
Felipe left on Aug.11 to go to his friends in Wisconsin for ceremony and to rally support to get his bus transmission fixed so it can be taken on the road again.
I am still hoping and working on getting funding so he and I can spend more time together this summer as per schedule and more details at:

At dinner last night I met some people with Sunrise Ranch who like the idea of installing the Rainbow Uprising Peace Pole that I brought here on their land. They want to have a ceremony and video that in the next couple of days here, and if they cannot decide now where to plant it they want to keep it with the lattice and make the Peace Pole Ceremony into the opening ceremony for next year’s Arise Festival.
I will keep you posted as this develops, then on my way back to Santa Barbara to see my grandson for the first time who is almost a year and a half old.
As of this time I have not received the needed funding to continue the schedule of events planned, so will not be going to the Unity Gathering reunion or subsequently planned events, pending funding to be more active than I can on my limited $988/mo social security retirement.
