In January 1984 I spent a few weeks keeping a peace prayer vigil camping in my VW camper in a turnout directly across the street from the gate to Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, with my partner at the time Evette Justus, beating the Tenku Celestial Drums and chanting the Na-Mu-Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo universal medicine word mantra for the cause of the global peace and harmony that is to come in our future as per prophecy for these times of Shakyamuni Buddha from 2500 years ago.

For the first week or so we took turns chanting and drumming 24/7, all day, and all night standing out in the bitter cold wind coming down the canyon from the nuclear power plant directly across from the gate where the civil disobedience later took place day-by-day with protesters getting arrested as they crossed the "blue line".

During that peace prayer vigil I fasted for a week with no food or water until the end of the formal protest and occupation event, then shared a restaurant meal with the group celebrating the completion of our Occupy Diablo Canyon event, before the Occupy Movement was conceived.

This was following the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi who also took up the Tenku drum and Na-Mu-Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo mantra from our mutual teacher-friend the most venerable Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985) founder of the Nipponzan Myohoji order that builds the peace pagodas around the world.

During that time I got a meeting with PG&E officials and presented to them to no avail a packet of documentation about superior energy technologies to replace nuclear power as per the work in Santa Barbara of Bruce DePalma the inventor of the n-Machine which was finally mentioned in the 1998 US Comprehensive National Energy Strategy Plan prepared for Congress by the US Department of Energy, the same year we got DoE to recognize what was then called Cold Fusion and is now called LENT low energy nuclear transmutation technologies, again to no avail regarding implementation.

Diablo means Devil in Spanish.

Hence our spiritual battle cry today to stop nuclear power, weapons and wastes, needs to be "KILL THE DEVIL!"

Here I have posted a newspaper photo of our little peace walk from Santa Barbara on its final leg arriving at the gates of Diablo Canyon to start that 1984 Occupy Diablo Canyon Peace Prayer Vigil.

I will be joining the Occupy National events in Sacramento for 4 days starting with Noon, July 31st at the steps of the State Capitol appealing to my friend and spiritual brother Governor Jerry Brown to shut down Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant for the sake of all life on Earth.

In 1994 I had meeting over tea at his community house in Oakland with then citizen Jerry Brown with his Rinzai Zen Buddhist monk friend and adviser, and my friend and adviser and initiator of the Global Peace Walk project Soto Zen Buddhist monk Yusen Yamato, to discuss our planned Global Peace Walk the next year walking to San Francisco from New York City for the UN50th anniversary, chanting and beating the drums across country.

As the new Mayor of Oakland Jerry Brown issued his first mayoral proclamation to me in recognition of our local Global Peace Walk and our second Global Crisis Solutions Conference, held at UC Berkeley convened by two senior scientist Alumni, Dr. Fred B. Wood and Dr. Brian O'Leary discussing these new but suppressed energy technologies, with other speakers on related issues which can be seen from a link from the text of that Oakland California Mayoral Proclamation posted at this link:
