Dear Friends:
On behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, I am pleased to welcome all
participants in the United Nations 50th Anniversary "Global Peace
Walk." Your actions are a shining example of the character of our
citizens and of our society.
The United Nations has long sought to bring peace and promote
development around the world. The efforts of the many United
Nations agencies and departments across the globe to promote
peace are often paralleled in the efforts of many of our citizens.
Pittsburgh is a city that has been defined by its international
heritage. A heritage that has produced a strong and ethnically
diverse population committed to the ideals set forth in the
United Nations. We are excited that the Global Peace Walk
will come through Pittsburgh and wish you the best of luck on
your journey.
Sincerely,
[signed]
Tom Murphy
