* To assist ethics committees interpret advance directives in light of unanticipated circumstances.

* To provide a model of the process of ethical deliberation.

* To construct a more workable advance directive.

By Subway: Take #1, 2, 3, or 9 train to 14th Street Station and exit at 12th Street. For IND line (8th Ave.), take A, C, or E to 14th Street. Walk three blocks to 12th Street.

By Car: From Bronx and Upper Manhattan: Take West Side Highway to 14th Street. Make a left on West 14th St. Turn Right on 7th Ave. St. Vincents is located at 12th Street and 7th Avenue. From lower Manhattan: Take West Side Highway North to 12th Street. Make a right on West 12 St. St. Vincents is located at 12th Street and 7th Avenue. There are parking garages in the area.
