THESE REPRESENT ALL THE WEYRS!! All the dragons,their riders,their childern and other workers and some Harpers (as teachers and such) live in a Weyr... They are usually in high ground, in caves with ledges so the dragons as well as the riders have shelter from the threat of thread.. All wyers have a lake around it somewhere so that the dragons can go and play, or do what ever it is that dragons do... It is very busy in a Weyr, all the training of the young riders(male and female) and their dragons to prepare them for the next threadfall, (as soon as they were old enough)..Thread fighting is very dangerous, both dragon and rider cn b burned or killed by it if they aren't careful! Also to go "between" can be deadly! ~Between~ is basically a limbo area of nothingness, cold and dark place, which is like telaportation,and the dragons and their riders use this method to get from one place to another faster, especially during "threadfall",the most important and dangerous thing on Pern!!!Without the dragons and their riders during threadfall, many people and livestock would be killed...The meetings amongst weyr leaders to make decisions about Perns problems, threadfall, to decide who was going to do what and when in their weyrs as well as in the holds if there was trouble,plus keeping the dragons well and happy was a tedious job....

THESE ARE THE HARPER CRAFT SYMBOLS..Pern depends on the Harpers for just about everthing but fighting thread!They are the teachers,the healers,the legal advisors,the tailors, fishermen,artists, historians and more! They sang Ballads to tell the history of Pern (also written down in ballad form) with teachers for singers and also instruments. Without them Pern would be lost.....

THESE ARE THE SHIELDS FOR THE HOLDS! The holds were important too, out of the holds came alot of necessary things, mining and tradesmiths,they raised and kept the animals that fed all. Not only for the people but also for the dragons..The people of the holds sometimes traveled out of their area (not during threadfall if they could help it) to go to a Harper Hall to learn a trade and some went to Weyrs to see if they could watch or possible impress a dragon for themselves.... Such was the case of Jaxom, he was a Lord holder and he was the only LordHolder that impressed a dragon, her name was Ruth, she was famous for being the one and only offcolor dragon on Pern!!! She was white, small, and not expected to do much of anything,but.....lol! Read the book if you want to know!!
