Ever since the Motor Bus Society published their TTC "Roster of Equipment" in 1969, conventional wisdom had it that this Tilling-Stevens TS-4 was serial number 1058. However, we now know that the correct serial number is 1858, thanks to Brian Girling, who pointed out that "apparently TS-4 production didn't start until chasis number 1800 (1058 is FN3721 of Grey, Kent, England registered in 1919), however chasis number 1858 (dating from c. 1922) is listed as presumed to be exported."
