Reasons to Make Your Daughter an Angel for Halloween
My daughter asked me to make her into an Angel for Halloween!
You will need:
White shiny material, about a metre
Gold ribbon
2 coat hangers
some shear or lace material, about 0.5 metres
gold sparkles
glue
pipe cleaners
Measure your child from her shoulders to her mid-calf, and around her middle. Add about 6 inches to
her middle measurement. Cut two big rectangles from the shiny white material to fit the measurements
that you have from your child.
Put the shiny side facing in, and sew the shoulders
together, leaving a space in the middle about 12 inches for your child to put her head through. Hem
the neckline all the way around about 0.25 of an inch.
Make hems on the front, back, left and right sides about 10 inches down for the arm holes.
Sew seams down each side to close the dress. Turn it right-side-out, and pin a hem
on the bottom. Put the gold ribbon at the bottom of the dress all the way around the front and back,
and hem it and sew the ribbon on at the same time, being sure to remember to sew the top of the
ribbon as well as the bottom. Use any extra ribbon for a nice belt with a bow at the back.
To make the wings, use the coat hangers and shape them into wings. Put the shear or lace material over
them, and glue all around the edges and wrap the material around the wire (hot glue works well if you
are very careful), After this is dry or cool, use white glue to outline the wings, and sprinkle the sparkles
on it and let dry. You can attach the wings by sewing them together and then
making small loops on each to put your child's arms through.
For a halo, we used
the pipe cleaners, covered them with glue and sparkles and let them dry for a few days. My
daughter placed this on her head and she was beautiful. If you prefer them off your child's
head, you can use a headband and an extra pipe cleaner to attach it up above your child's head.
HAVE A SAFE HALLOWEEN!
