Cut the material into 2 black circles. Cut 16 leg pieces. Sew buttons
on one of the black circles in place for eyes. Place 8 legs on the
other black circle in places for legs and pin them on, with the foot
end going into the circle. This is so that when you sew them on the
seam will go into the beanbag and not be seen at all. Sew around to
attach the legs and repeat this with the other circle and 8 legs,
making sure to have the foot end of the legs on top of the eyes for the
same reason as above.
Place the front and back together with
the legs all stretched out and match them together with pins. Make
sure you have the outsides facing each other and sew them together
carefully around each leg and the body, leaving about 3 inches to turn it right-side out. Do this,
and then stuff it about 3/4 full with dried beans or rice. Take a few
minutes to be sure there is some rice in each of the legs. I used
a funnel for this. It worked wonderfully. Then you
can either hand sew, or machine sew carefully the opening shut.
Now you need a target! You could use a large orange or white plastic tablecloth.
Draw a very large spiderweb on it using black magic marker. Put numbers in
the various openings in the web. Keep score of each child's total. Let them throw
it a couple of times each! We give prizes for the lowest score and the highest score!
HAVE FUN!!
