Sliding Perpetual Calendar
I tried to create a pattern for this Perpetual Calendar. I copied the pieces exactly so you can see how to make the numbers, letters and pictures so they all fit nicely and they are easy to follow. The pages are sometimes a few minutes loading, but you will be able to see exactly how the stitching is done.

To make this pattern you will need:
2 - 8.5 by 11 sheets of 7-count plastic canvas, white,
1 - 8.5 by 11 sheet of 7-count plastic canvas, any colour that you like for the front sheet
wool that matches the front sheet of plastic canvas
size 16 needle
scissors
stitches used: Backstitch and Overcast Stitch
CUTTING:
numbers are 9 holes wide and 8 holes high (31 total)
months are 20 holes wide and 8 holes high (12 total)
holidays are 9 holes wide and 8 holes high (7 total)
days:
S = 4 holes wide and 6 holes high (cut 2)
M = 5 holes wide and 6 holes high (cut 1)
T = 5 holes wide and 6 holes high (cut 2)
W = 5 holes wide and 6 holes high (upside down M)
F = 5 holes wide and 6 holes high (cut 1)
numbered day display area and storage area on back sheet:
A - 14 long pieces 65 holes long by 3 holes high
B - 14 long pieces 65 holes long by 1 hole high (fit underneath other ones
to give depth so numbers slide easily)
month display area on front sheet:
C - 2 pieces 21 holes long by 3 holes high
D - 2 pieces 21 holes long by 1 hole high (fit underneath other ones
to give depth so months slide easily)
STITCHING
ROW PLACEMENT
STARTING FROM BOTTOM (PLACING PIECES HORIZONTALLY)
Front Sheet:
Using the backstitch,
please note that the single row that is placed under the middle hole
of the triple hole row is to give the rows depth so that the numbers
will slide easily in and out. (please see placement pic below)
4th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas attaching them both to the sheet,
all the way to the end of the row and repeat as follows.
14th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
24th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
34th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
44th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
54th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
64th hole from bottom and third hole from left of sheet
place one (B) and one (A) over that and backstitch all the way
through all three layers of canvas all the way to the end of the row.
Initialed Days of the week stitching:
place unworked letters on canvas at :
S for Sunday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 7th hole from
left side of sheet place top right corner of S and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave five empty rows between S and M
M for Monday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 16th hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of M and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave five empty rows between M and T
T for Tuesday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 26th hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of T and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave three empty rows between T and W
W for Wednesday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 34th hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of W and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave five empty rows between W and T
T for Thursday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 44th hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of T and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave five empty rows between T and F
F for Friday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 54th hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of F and backstitch to sheet.
note: leave four empty rows between F and S
S for Saturday at 19th hole from the top of sheet and 63rd hole from
left side of sheet, place top right corner of S and backstitch to sheet.
Month Space Stitching on Front Sheet
4th hole from top of sheet and 27th hole from left side of sheet
place first hole of (D) piece horizontally and place a (C) piece on
top of it, with the middle row (of the three holes vertically) on
top of the (D) piece. Backstitch through all three sheets of canvas to
attach them altogether.
note: the single row under the triple row
section gives the canvas the depth it needs for the months to slide
in and out easily for display.
repeat that with the remaining (D) and (C) pieces starting on the
14th hole from the top and the 27th hole from the left side of sheet
working horizontally.
BACK PAGE (extra month, holiday, and number storage area)

i plan to decorate the front sheet now, before I attach it to the back.
TO ATTACH THE FRONT TO THE BACK:
place front sheet backside to backside with back sheet
overcast stitch all the way around to attach them together.
slide all the numbers, and a month into the front
and slide all the remaining numbers, months, holidays into the back
rows and there you go! :)
