Super-Easy Hdc Candy Cane Slippers
Youth Size 1 or 2.
To make larger sizes, add 2 or 4 more rows after row 10 and also after row 17.
You will need:
Red and White worsted weight yarn
J Hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends and some assembly.
Starting at the toe (make 2):
Row 1. Holding Red and White yarn together, ch 3, 8 hdc in third ch from hook, join in the top of the first hdc. (8)
Row 2. Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as joining, 2 hdc in each stitch, join to top of ch 2. (16)
Row 3. Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as joining, hdc in next, continue around, join to top of ch 2. (24)
Row 4. Ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join to top of ch 2. (24)
Row 5. Drop Red and using White alone, ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join to top of ch 2. (24)
Row 6. Drop White and using Red alone, ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join to top of ch 2. (24)
Row 7. Drop Red and using White alone, ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join to top of ch 2, turn. (24)
Rows 8 - 10. Holding both Red and White together again, ch 2, hdc in each stitch, around, join to top of ch 2, turn. (24)
Row 11. Ch 2, hdc in next 17 stitches, turn. (18)
Rows 12 – 17. Ch 2, sk first stitch, hdc in next 16 stitches, hdc in top of ch 2, turn. (18)
Row 18. Ch 2, sk first stitch, hdc in next 6 stitches, (hdc dec over 2 stitches) twice, hdc in next 6 stitches, hdc in top of ch 2, turn. (16)
Row 19. Ch 2, sk first stitch, hdc in next 4 stitches, (hdc dec over 2 stitches) three times, hdc in next 4 stitches, hdc in top of ch 2, do not turn, do not finish off.
Cuff:
Row 1. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the first chain of Row 19 (attaching the top of the heel together). Chain 1, sc in each stitch at the ends of each row, 7 sc across the side, sc dec the last row to the first stitch on the front of the foot, 5 sc across the top, sc dec last stitch to the first row on the opposite side, sc in the end of each row, working back toward the heel. Slip stitch to the first chain.
Rows 2 and 3. Drop Red and using White alone, ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each stitch around.
Row 4. Drop White and using Red alone, ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each stitch around.
join, finish off. Leave long tail for sewing the back of the heel together. Sew the heel together and finish off.
