Ham in a Crockpot

Ham is a wonderful thing! If you are like me, you need more than one type of meat to serve all of the people who come. One sister likes ham and the other brother-in-law likes turkey, while your husband would just prefer your basic tourtiere meat pie! So we can accommodate them all without too much trouble by cooking your meat pie the day before, and just reheating it in the oven while you make your gravy. And you can cook your ham in your crockpot so your turkey and ham can be cooking at the same time. Unless of course, you have one of those huge ovens that hold a bunch of roasting pans all at the same time! LOL

Anyway, I solve all these by using my crockpot for the ham and it comes out wonderfully! Just don't do what I did last year, and please be sure to take off all the plastic coverings on your ham. I didn't know that some had 2 covers, but the second came off easily just before I took it out of the crockpot! LOL DUH :)

Anyway, you will need

a Ham
ginger ale

That's all you need for very tasty ham. You just put both in your crockpot and cook on slow for 7-10 hours or as directed on your crock instructions. There are methods of putting pineapple on your ham and cloves and things like that. I don't go to all that trouble because there are so many other things that need to be done and prepared. You can find those more indepth instructions on the web though if you prefer.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday!!
