I made this simple costume three times.
One for my daughter a few years back, one for myself
so we could go as "Mom/Daughter Witches",
and one for the front of my house so it looks like
a witch crashed into it! LOL
You will need:
About a metre of black fabric (for a small one, double it for large size)
Sewing materials, black thread, scissors, sewing machine, etc.
I measured my daughter from the top of her shoulders to her mid-calf, then around her middle
just so I could be sure I was making the perfect size for her. For myself, I just used a full metre
of fabric for the front and a full metre for the back.
I cut 2 pieces of fabric 12 inches
long and six inches wide to make sleeves. These are the kind of sleeves that just cover the arm
because I wanted to be sure her coat would fit through because sometimes it gets cool up here
in Canada on Halloween night.
Sew the top of the dress on each side, leaving a space
in the middle about 12 inches for the child's head to fit through. Larger for adult size.
Then sew the sleeves to cover the top part of the shoulder, make sure that the middle of the
sleeve is in the middle of the shoulder. Then sew a hem around the arm holes about 10 inches
down on the front, back, left and right sides.
Sew right down the left and right sides,
with the good sides in and there you go!
You have an easy homemade Witch dress! I used my
scissors at the bottom to make it jagged and ragged so it would look old.
