My Virtual NeedlePoints Album

Well, here it is...most of my collection of needle points!

I still have a dozen or so canvases that haven't either been mounted or started.

I thrive on working on way more than one project at a time :-) Enjoy!!

Amish Pillow Top

For some strange reason, my digital camera decided to make all the cream background into yellow stripes!! Just ignore the yellow - its meant to be all cream. This is a rescue canvas that I bought on Ebay for $2.00 US! It was already mounted on the stretcher bars when I bought it, although didn't include any of the wool - which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The original colours were awful. When I was deciding on which colours to use - I had already decided that the pillow belonged in my huge rocking chair in my bedroom. So, the basis for the colours are the same as my bedroom - forest green and burgundy! This canvas is 14 x 14 inches and is going to make a grand pillow!!

Stained Glass Pantry Shelf

Yet another rescue from Ebay. For this one, I paid $6.00 US funds. It wasn't mounted and didn't include any of the original wools, but had already been started. Most of the work was uneven and the colours had faded in some parts. I managed to rework the colours without too much damage to the original canvas. I finished it in 4 ply knitting worsted! The original canvas did not include the stained glass border, that was just a touch of my own creativity:-) The mesh is 10, and the overall canvas is 13 x 22 inches. Its just a fun piece for my country kitchen!

A. C. Straughn -
A Cobbled Village Street

This was my VERY first attempt at needlepoint. A friend of mine started it, and later decided that needlepoint just wasn't for her. I had never taken a lesson, nor read any material when I tackled this one. She said "just make continuous cross stitches". When I finally finished my masterpiece and removed it from the stretcher bars, I discovered what "out of square" meant. By using the same stitch in the same direction for the whole canvas, it had become so distorted that it just refused to be blocked. Unfortunately, unless its mounted as a picture, it can never be used. I refused to do away with it - it was a lesson well learned!. The mesh is 12 point, and the overall size of the canvas is 12 x 15 inches. Its still one of my favs :-)

English Garden

"English Garden" was the very first canvas that I actually purchased from a shop. One the large department stores had decided to close its needlepoint department and had put all of the canvas and wool on a huge sale. This canvas originally retailed for $80.00 Canadian - and I managed to get it for less than $20.00 Canadian. Of course, as with all bare canvas - the expense comes with the purchase of the wool!! I love this piece because of all the different flowers and colours in the foreground. It is a work in progress!
