Fantasy EPIC Models
Well, seeing as it appears that GW are finally releasing
their very own Fantasy EPIC game - I have decided not to bother with the
publication of my own set until I have had the chance to see what they've
come up with and see if my version is any better.
IF ANY OF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MY OWN VERION
OF THE FANTASY EPIC GAME THEN PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND I WILL POST THE
COMPLETELY FREE RULES ON THE SITE!!
However, for the moment you will have to make
do with simply seeing some of the models I have made for the game.
THE CITY WALLS / FORT'S
First up we have the fortifications which I have made for the game.
Here we have the Empire City walls (Fort), which is made with the Empire
in mind but is equally as useful for any force. I currently have 23 pieces
for the fort, all of which are inter-changeable and can be made into a
near infinite number of styles of defence. At the moment I have only scanned
pictures of a straight wall and an outside corner section, but other sections
include gate houses, towers, Higher walls (3.5 not 2.5 cm high), ramped
sections to get to the high walls, T-junctions, inside corners and more
on the way! Whilst I was making the pieces I had in mind the idea of making
it the City of Altdorf - Home of the Empire cannon Schools. To this end
most of the parapets have cannon points cut into them whilst foot troops
can actually see over the top anyway.
I Have also made an Orc Wood style fort but
this is proving very hard to scan (sections keep breaking!) but I hope
to get that on here soon as well!
THE CITY
Now - what use is a City wall without a city
to go around? NONE! In fact, the first buildings I made for the game were
some ordinary houses and a Pub (should ALWAYS be top of the list!). From
there I got the Idea of a city, made the city walls and am now back to
continually expanding the range of buildings in the city. Most of the Models
follow the same basic design - various sized 2 story Tudor style buildings
(with the overhang thing) with the Odd large hall style building to represent
drinking houses and barns. Here I have scanned in the first of the buildings
I made (and my first ever FANTASY EPIC building ever!). Its a simple design
with all of the beams and windows simply painted on!
In the city there is also a selection of Barrack
style (military) buildings which I will be adding to this section in the
near future!
OTHER DEFENCES
As well as the walls to the city I have made a variety of other defences
which can be used in conjunction with the walls or as a seperate outpost.
Most of these are earthwork style. I tried to scan them in but you really
couldn't see the detail on them so they have been left out of the section.
As well as the Earthworks I have made a River which is designed to double
up as a moat if the situation requires it (ie it fits nicely around my
standard City wall layout).
There are also - of course - defenders to the city. Most of these
have been converted from Old style SPACE MARINE (EPIC game - not as in
the Imperium's finest) IG figures. Below we have a rough rider which has
simply been trimmed down (lasguns off etc.) and painted as an Empire knight.
Others include Old style IG troopers converted into Pikemen and the Obvious
conversion of Ogryns into Ogres (filed off all their armour and re-modelled
the arms with clubs).
OTHER RACES
Not being one to discriminate/favour any one
race in any of the games I play I have also created a small set of more
barbaric defences. Including the Orc wood fort, I also have 17 Huts, 3
watch towers (Huts on stilts!), and 'orrible spiky defences. As said above,
most of the small earth work style defences don't scan well, and the wood
fort falls apart every time! I have therefore been reduced to only being
able to show you some pictures of the Mud Huts I made! Its not the best
quality model in the world but it serves its purpose well and they take
about 10 min.s to make 12 models!
THANKS
Well - thats all of the Fantasy EPIC models I can show you at
the moment. More will be posted in the not too distant future I can assure
you.
Thank you all for taking the time to look at my miniatures,
please remember that any mention of FANTASY EPIC is not anything official
about the up-coming game and just my own attempt at creating a whole game
only to be outdone by the big boys at the last moment :-(
Please sign the Guestbook and come back soon!
