This is the classic capture the flag style mission. Some vital piece of equipment or a lost data pad is discovered by two armies at the same time. Both sides send out forces to locate and retrieve the item but the question is - who will get there first???
Forces:
This game can be played with any points value of forces you wish. Both sides pick the set limit (or close too) of any units they wish within the normal limits. These may include if they wish Defence systems (see "Digging in") and/or water Units (see WET EPIC). This scenario can be played on either water or land or a mixture of both (assuming you incorporate WET EPIC rules or an equivalent for the water sections).
Set Up:
Set up the table as normal but with one addition. You will need to have a "flag" in the centre of the table. This can be made from a simple counter or any kind of desirable 41st Millennium junk which would be wanted by both sides.
Notes:
The "flag" can be picked up by any unit which comes into base contact with it at the end of their turn or by a unit passing the flag at any point during its move. Picking up the flag during movement takes 2cm off of the move of the unit to represent them having to get the thing out of the ground and back into their vehicle. Once a unit has got the flag it may be passed on from unit to unit within the force. One passing on move may be made per turn. Passing on the flag takes 2 cm off of the move of a unit or can be done at the end of a movement.
When a unit carrying a counter is destroyed the counter remains at the point of destruction. Leave the counter at the position of the wreck. It can now be picked up by any passing unit in the same way as described above.
Victory Conditions:
If either player manages to get the counter off the board via their own edge of the table then they may claim victory for the battle. If the battle becomes a complete blood bath and neither side gets a counter of of their side of the board then the battle is won by whichever team brings his/her enemies Army Moral value down to 0 first in the normal manner.
