Mech.-Ogryns
Many of you may remember the robot troops from the previous editions of Epic. Well - They're Back! Sort of. Heres How:
As the fight for the Planet of Chameleon V raged on, the defenders suffered heavy losses. The defense was rugged, but the Ogryns were still not tactically adept at the kind of fighting the defenders were attempting to operate. Scores of the lumbering beasts died with every attack. The human defenders knew that something had to be done if they were to stand a chance of survival - although thick skulled, the Ogryns made up a significant percentage of the fighting troops.
The more mechanically minded of the Penal Legion's troopers set to work on a scheme to sort out the problem. What they came up with was highly advanced forms of false limbs to replace those that were lost by the defenders. Next came body fraction replacements - cast from only what the defenders had to spare. It wasn't long before they had created enough different spare bits to cover any injury incurred by an Ogryn.
A week after the last of the Body sections was complete - the Adepts Arbites Captain presented the first of the beasts to Captain Birzcran Himself - A Walking mass of Metal, wires, and artificial intelligence. With the addition of extra Intelligence units and an infra red receiver in the head, the MECH OGRYNS WERE BORN!!
These mad mechanical monstrosities carried all the basic qualities of an Ogryn - after al they were built out of Ogryn spare parts! They used the same weapons system - the crude but brutally effective Ripper Gun - many of which came from the fallen bodies of the Ogryn defenders who had inspired their creation.
Although relatively few in numbers, these machines are Efficient warriors in combat - with many of them being controlled by only a single well trained guardsman.
