When a Thief becomes 5th level,
has a minimum of 13 dexterity, 10 intelligence and 10 charisma {and has
found a Death Emblem (detailed later...)}, he may become an Assassin.
Level: | Experience: | Hit Points: | Thac0: | Wpn. Prof: | Non-Wpn. Prof: | Abilities: |
1 | 0 | +1 | 0 | 3 | 4 | (basic) |
2 | 10000 | +1d4 | -1 | 3 | 4 | - |
3 | 20000 | +1d4 | -2 | 3 | 4 | Create Poison |
4 | 35000 | +1d4 | -2 | 4 | 5 | - |
5 | 65000 | +1d4 | -3 | 4 | 5 | - |
6 | 130000 | +1d4 | -4 | 4 | 5 | - |
and so on... | +130K/ level | +1d3/ level | (-4,-5,-6)etc. | +1/ 4 levels | +1/ 4 levels | - |
Basic Abilities:
-20 points/ level to increase Move
Silently, Hide in Shadows, Detect Noise and Pick Pockets ONLY!
-Backstab(Rules can be found in
PHB):
Level: | Multiplier: |
1-3 | x 4 |
4-6 | x 5 |
7-9 | x 6 |
10-12 | x 7 |
13+ | x 8 |
-Snipe Shot:
The Snipe Shot is a sort
of "Missile Backstab" (pretty predictable, eh?) which can be performed
when there's plenty of time to aim and the target is fully visible (no
cover etc.). Snipe Shots cannot be performed with slings or hurled weapons.
The attack bonus and damage multiplier depend on the level of the Assassin...
Level: | Multiplier: | Attack Bonus: |
1-3 | x 1,5 | +2 |
4-6 | x 2 | +3 |
7-9 | x 2,5 | +3 |
10-12 | x 3 | +3 |
13+ | x 4 | +4 |
As you may have noticed, the Snipe Shot is not as effective as the Backstab. I could give some foolish reason for it, but it's mainly to prevent abuse of the system.
-Create Poison
This ability is TOTALLY left
to the DM. Fact is that the Assassin can create poison, but what type and
the creation process are all dependent on DM's opinion.
-{The Death Emblem:
If you want to become an
Assassin, you'll need extensive training. The Assassin guild is the only
place where you could learn the art of assassination as the Assassins themselves
don't teach their way of life to any stranger.
How do I become a member
of an Assassin Guild? Very simple, and yet very difficult. To become member,
all you need is The Death Emblem. The only ones who possess such a thing
are ,yep , The Assassins. So the point is; if you want to become an Assassin,
you'll either have to rob an Assassin (VERY difficult) or kill an
Assassin. This prevents the Guild from getting all sorts of losers membering
it, and getting lazy Assassins (you're not going to relax when you realize
that your Emblem could be stolen or you could be killed at any time.}
