The temple at Tletna is probably the most famous of those dedicated to
the Lizardman deity, Mic. He is also known as the Shape Changer by the
skinks. This is a true name because as thought can take many forms, so
can he. This specific god is often takes the shape of a sea serpent and
thus is often correctly thought to be the brother of Sotek, the snake god.
He is also associated with Tepoc though they are not the same. Mic is a
somewhat darker god. Mic is most renowned as the god of thought and tactics,
using his incredible wisdom to overcome enemies over the brute strength
of the other gods. He often resides in the waters of the river Nictaniqua
which translates to “River of Knowledge” in Saurian. The spawning pools
of the great Slann Mage Priests are often mixed with this water to give
those that are born from it a greater aptitude for magic. Lizardmen that
worship this god are called Micai. Though most Lizardmen are against the
Dark Elves and other races allied with them, Micai often follow the ideals
of these groups and join with them. Mic will counsel these warriors and
lead them to conquest of other lands. A saurus in the service of this god,
is often recognized by dark blue and green scales, followed by a red loincloth.
Generally the only skinks that follow Mic are chameleons and have mottled
scales. Lizardmen with the blessing of Mic upon them will have a bright
green mark upon them which symbolizes an aptitude in commanding warriors.
The temple at Tletna was built by the kroxigors and thus a carving of one
of their heads is mounted on highest peak. Micai believe that if the creators
of a temple leave their mark then it have some form of protection. The
carvings that decorate the top slab of stone represent the Micai on the
opposite side a symbol for sacrifice is depicted. Inscriptions on the two
walls are written in Saurian and read “Temple of Mic” and “God of Tactics”.
Most temples paying homage to Mic reside by the water side so that he will
be able to grant the requests of his followers. This temple is dedicated
to sacrificial rites that honour Mic. The specifics to such ceremonies
are shrouded in traditions that date back to before the creation of Itza.
One such example is the Pre-Battle sacrifice. A nixitchi fish will be taken
to a temple by the side of a river. There, a skink shaman will slit the
stomach open using a coral knife. The insides will be removed and buried
immediately. At that time, the fish will be stuffed with Itza grubs. The
nixitchi fish will then be laid in the river where it will travel downstream.
If the nixitchi floats then it is a portent of a victorious battle for
the Lizardmen. On the other hand, if it sinks then the the army will face
defeat. Generally, the temples of Mic are built by a river or lake so that
sacrifices can be performed quickly and efficiently. Most involve running
water such as the ceremony before a battle. After a victorious battle,
the Micai must capture one of the enemy soldiers. The prisoner must
be tied down on an altar of stone so he cannot move. A skink shaman
must then perform the necessary sacrificial rituals to properly pay homage
to Mic. The shaman will take the coral dagger and make a vertical
slice across the temples (or similar place on the species) and let the
blood run into a bowl. No drop may be spilled onto the altar.
Worshippers of Mic believe that the blood from this area transfers the
mind of the prisoner into the bowl. The blood must then be sprinkled
into a river so that the mind and knowledge of the captive will be taken
to Mic. If the battle ends with defeat then the highest ranking officer
(besides a Slann) must be sacrificed to Mic.

***Note: This document was half written as a joke.
I thought about it when the campaign started and my brother and I were
making temples for terrain. Mic offered as two victory points if
we carved his name on it somewhere so that brought about this, the Temple
of Mic.
