Sixteen short years since I first brought you home
My darling young daughter, how time has flown
From sweet little dresses, to fashion and flair,
From pretty barrettes, to dyeing your hair
No longer a child, not yet fully grown
Before too long you’ll come into your own
Mature and adult, your mind will be set
But please keep in mind; you’re not quite there yet
Days of being carefree, so soon gone forever
With adulthood will come a new kind of pleasure
Love and commitment will enter your life
Filled with happiness, sadness, celebration and strife
My darling young daughter, I pray that all your tomorrows
Are filled with great joy, and very little sorrow
That you’ll find true love and blessings untold
God’s priceless gift, more precious than gold
Dedicated to my beautiful daughters, Ariane and Justine
