To My Sister, On Her Wedding Day

Friday, August 11, 2000

As you walk down the aisle into your new life,
Of loving and living as husband and wife,
Take heed of the lessons of those gone before,
And your life will be filled with blessings galore.

Be patient, be gentle, be faithful, be kind,
Don't hold a grudge, share what's on your mind.
Never go to bed angry - that's rule number one,
And even in hard times, always try to have fun.

Say no to temptation; dare to commit,
For Love to survive, you must both really want it.
Don't bring up the past, for it's over and done,
Maintain your individuality, but strive to work as one.

If the blessing of children comes to you one day,
Be an example to them and show them the right way.
To live and to grow, they'll need all your care,
Don't judge them too harshly, try to be fair.

There'll be joy, there'll be laughter, heartache and tears,
But with faith in God and each other, you'll have nothing to fear.
Through the years, there'll be many, with advice to give,
But only you, as a couple, can choose how to live.

The perfect example of what marriage should be,
Was always there before you, so plain to see.
For this message I bring, comes to you with love,
From Mom, here with us, and Dad, from above.
