Hecate: A Greek Moon Goddess

In addition to being a moon goddess, Hecate is also the Greek goddess of the underworld, and the protectress of all witches. Hecate is the embodiment of the Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess, symbolized by the wanig/dark moon, and is often seen as portaying the darker side of the Triple Goddess. in other words, not a nice lady!--=^.^=Luna

She is one of the most popular deities among modern witches, (especially older females) as she presides over the Magickal arts. In ancient times, she was worshipped at a crossroads in Thessaly (don't ask me where that is...i suspect it's in Greece...) by occult bands of moon-worshipping females, and invoked throughout Greece by those seeking wealth and favour. To honour or summon Hecate, it is said that an offering of some sort must be left for her in a roadside shrine or at a crossroads at the witching hour (midnight).
