ok, these are in no particular orer...just the order i happened to find them.
the way this list works is that the Greek name is first, followed by
the Roman name, unless otherwise indicated. ok? ok. =^.^=
Aphrodite/Venus:
*the goddess of love and beauty
*loves to laugh
*daughter of Zeus and Dione, or, alternately, born from sea foam
*known as the "beautiful golden goddess" (now we know why minako has
blonde hair? =^.^=)
* not strong per se, but holds great power over men
*sacred plant: myrtle tree
*sacred animals: dove, sparrow, swan
Zeus/Jupiter
*supreme ruler, the Lord of the Sky
*rain-god, cloud-gatherer, and controller of thunder
*does not have ultimate power; Fate is stronger than he
*constantly falling in love
*demanded proper actions of his followers, as demonstrated by the
saying "Father Zeus never helps liars or those who break their oaths"
*sacred plant: oak tree
*sacred animal: eagle
Poseidon/Neptune
*Zeus' brother, ruler of the sea
*2nd in command
*responsible for giving horses to man
* "He commanded and the storm wind rose/ and the surges of the sea"
*also known as "earth-shaker"
*constantly carried his trident (large 3-pronged fork)
*sacred animal: horses
Hades/Pluto
*3rd (and youngest) brother, ruler of the underworld
*god of wealth as well
*owned a cap or helmet of invisiblility
*rarely left his realm, as he was not welcome among the other gods
*not Death personified, but rather the King of the Dead
Hermes/Mercury
*son of Zeus and Maia
*god of commerce and market; guide of the dead
*graceful and swift of motion
*wore winged sandals and hat
*messenger of Zeus
*Master Thief of the gods
*invented the lyre (a small harp-like musical instrument)
Ares/Mars
*son of Zeus and Hera (but his parents hated him)
*god of war
*ran from pain, but hot-tempered
*as Mars, invincible
*sacred animals: vulture, dog
Cronus/Saturn
*father of Jupiter
*protector of sowers and seed
*feast of Saturnalia held for him
*during saturnalia, there was no violence and equality for all
(including women and children)
November 22: OK, here's a little tidbit of info i picked up..... Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are called the terrestrial (earth-like),inner or "inferior" planets (which, might i add, is not very nice!). meanwhile, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are Jovian(jupiter-like), outer, or "superior" planets. However, Pluto, the smallest planet and the one furthest from the sun, is neither inner nor outer. Maybe this is why Setsuna is neither as well? After all, she's the Guardian of the Gates of Time....she has no time to socialize! ;) It might also have to do with the fact that the god Pluto ws the ruler of the underworld, but that's another story altogether!!
I do see one probem with this set-up though....if Jupiter is an OUTER
planet, why is Mako-chan an INNER senshi? wouldn't that team her up
with Haruka and Michiru?? maybe that is why she falls for Haruka in
one episode (#96, in the S series.) it's really funny, cuz everyone
tells her not to give up hope, she doesn't need to go after girls yet!
anyway, i'm rambling. you know it, i know it. and if i don't quit
it soon, luna's gonna know it too and there's gonna be
trouble!!! ja mata....
