Neo-Queen Serenity doesn't have a namesake, exactly, as the others do. However, her name resembles greatly that of Selene, a Greek lunar goddess equivalent to the Roman Luna. (Usagi is equal to me? What?!--Luna) The sun god, Hellios (recognize that name? Think SuperS...) is her brother, whom she never sees as he falls asleep when it's her turn to rule the sky, and vice versa.Accoring to legend, she rides in a silver chariot across the sky, drawn by two beautiful white horses.
Selene is considered to be the Mother aspect of the triple goddess and correspondant to the full moon phase. She is also the guardian goddess of those who pracice magick.
