I am a published author, with a
single book to my credit. It's called Destiny's Dark Child and is
co-written by Dale Binkley and myself. Books have always been a part of my
life. My parents encouraged reading and imagination at an early age. Bedtime
stories were made up as often as they were read from a book. Hugh Lofting's
Dr Doolittle series, the Hardy Boys, Kipling's 'Just So' stories, classics
like Ivanhoe and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea all have their place
in my memories. Hamilton, Doyle, Eddings, Moorcock and Norton have all had
their turns as my favourite author. To finally have a book published and
have the chance that someone might put my name on a list like that is a
dream come true.
I've been writing on and off since my early teens, when I produced some truly awful science fiction and fantasy. Fortunately, my writing has improved considerably. With a background in medical science I tend to be a stickler for details. I have an avid interest in fencing and have some proficiency as a duelist. I consider myself to be cursed with an analytical mind and an artistic soul. It's a bad combination. I'm 38, Canadian, and engaged to my writing partner. I have a twelve year old daughter, who has an incredible gift for art. She gets that from her mother. She gets her sense of humour from me. I co-manage several creative writing communities on MSN, although only one could be called a major one, boasting 50+ members. If you're interested, drop by http://groups.msn.com/TheElmwood. I moderate the Anita Blake thread, and the Shadowrun thread, for those into a techno-magical mix..... |
