The Genie
nominations are in and Molly Parker is up for an award. Actually,
Molly Parker has been nominated for her work in two movie, The War Bride
and The Last Wedding. Both of these nominations in the Supporting
Actress category. We'll find out if Molly Parker wins in either movie
when the Genie awards will be presented on Thursday, February 7th, 2002
on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) at 8:00 pm EST. The
Genies celebrate excellence in Canadian cinema. It is most often
said that the Genie is like the Canadian Oscar. Molly Parker has
won the Genie before in 1996 for her role in Kissed.

The Canadian-United Kingdom co-production The War Bride, which
stars Molly Parker will start being shown at the Canada Square cinema in
Toronto on Friday, December 7th, 2001.

The movie Suspicious River has yet to appear in Toronto.

Lynne Stopkewich's second film Suspicious River is to have a
limited release on Friday, November 23rd, 2001. This information
according to the Toronto Sun.

of the teaser poster for Paul Gross' movie Men With Broom.
The image is courtesy of an article that appeared in the Sunday, November
18th, 2001 Toronto Star. In the article it talks about the movie's
spring release and advertising campaign. The movie will be heavily
promoted during the CBC's broadcast of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
This is the deal the CBC signed to get the TV rights to the movie in 2004.

Bravo, The Film and Arts Network in the United States will be showing
the first season of Twitch City starting November 4th, 2001 at 12:30
AM EST. Here is the schedule so far :

Center of the World will be released December 18th to Region
1 (North America). This according to a major US video trade paper.
The DVD will include Select Scene Commentary by director Wayne Wang and
post production consultant Patrick Lindenmajer, deleted scenes and alternate
endings and widescreen format.

Molly Parker is a nominee in Chanel and Fashion Magazine's Most Alluring
Canadians. She is in the actress category along with Sex in the
City's Kim Cattrall, ex-Law and Order prosecutor Jill Hennessy,
Planet
of the Apes' Estella Warren and the Matrix's Carrie-Anne Moss.
There are two ways of voting. The first way is to vote online at
the Fashion Magazine
web site. However the direct link can be found here.
The other method of voting is in person at the Chanel booth in The Bay
stores across Canada. According to the web site the ballot closes
on December 15th, 2001. The winners will be announced in the April
2002 issue of Fashion Magazine, this piece of news coming from Star! TV.

Last Wedding, in which Molly Parker stars has opened to a limited
run in Toronto and is in it's second week of release.

Expect the movie Suspicious River to open soon. In the
Toronto Sun, the movie starring Molly Parker and Callum Keith Rennie ,
will have a opening in the early part of November. Most likely a
limited release in the Toronto area.

Molly Parker's next piece of work is Men With Brooms. Shooting
will begin on April 16th, 2001 in Toronto. The director of the movie
will be Paul Gross. Some of you will remember him as the famous mountie
Constable Benton Fraser from the show Due South. Not only
will Paul Gross direct he has co-written and will star in the movie.
Peter Outerbridge who starred with Molly Parker in Kissed will also
be in the film with another notable name Leslie Nielsen. The announcement
of the film was made on Sunday, April 1st, 2001 by Serendipity Point Films
and Alliance Atlantis. All of this was reported in the Toronto Star
on Monday, April 2nd, 2001.

Men With Brooms is about the realization of four old friends
and their late coach's dream of the big curling trophy. These friends
dust off their brooms and sweep the past behind.

Two movies in which Molly Parker stars in will be screened at Edmonton's
Local Heroes International Film Festival. Suspicious River
will make it's usual festival run, and the Alberta made The War Bride.
The
War Bride will close the festival on Friday, March 23rd, 2001.

the rental store shelves in your area for a copy.

Lynne Stopkewich's Suspicious River will be screening at the
International Film Festival Rotterdam. The movie will be screened
each day from Thursday, February 1st to Saturday, February 3rd. Check
the festival's web site for times and locations here.

of the World will have a theatrical release date for April 20th, 2001
instead of the March 9th, 2001 release date mentioned before. The
movie will be a limited release, that much hasn't changed.

Welcome to the new Millennium! All past news items can be found
in the Archive page. 2001 will be a great
year for Molly Parker fans. Already we are looking forward to the
video release of The Five Senses this month. Not only that
a possible release of the epic Sunshine that topped one of 2000's
best movies. Also other theatrical releases such as Center
of the World and Suspicious River all due in the spring time.
