Drake Lineage

Generation 1

This particular Drake Line has been traced back to Nicholas Drake born between 1251/1280 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died before June 14, 1302. He married to Agnes (?) between 1276/1301.

Nicholas Drake and Agnes (?) had a son, Nicholas Drake Jr.

Generation 2

Nicholas Drake Jr. was born between 1274/1290 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died before 1331. It is not known who his wife was, but he had a son named William.

Generation 3

William Drake was born between 1320/1330 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died before May 2, 1420. It is not know who was the wife of William, but he had a son Edmund.

Generation 4

Edmund Drake was born about 1360 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died before October 17, 1471. It is not known who the wife of Edmund was, but he had a son, William.

Generation 5

William Drake was born about 1440 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died before December 19, 1510. It is not known who was the wife of William, but he had a son, Thomas.

Generation 6

Thomas Drake was born 1460 in Great Waltham, Essex, England and died November 27, 1541 in Great Waltham, Essex, England. He married to Agnes Butler, who was born 1460/1464 and died September 30, 1550 in White Notley, Essex, England. Thomas and Agnes had a son named William.

Generation 7

William Drake was born about 1518 in Great Waltham ,England and died September 23, 1555 in White Notley, Essex, England. William married to Ann Marsham about 1553. Ann born about 1531 in Great Waltham , England. They had a son, William.

Generation 8

William Drake was born 1553/1555 in Colchester or Halstead, Essex, England and died November 3, 1616 Halstead, Essex, England. William married to Joan Merrylls on October 12, 1578 in Halstead, Essex, England. Joan born 1557 in Halstead, Essex, England and died March 16, 1615/1616 in Elmstead or Halstead, Essex, England. They had a son, Robert.

Robert Drake was born July 23, 1581 in Halstead, Essex, England and died January 14, 1687/1688 in Hampton, Rockingham Co., NH. He married to Jane Gawton in 1611 in Devonshire, England. Jane born about 1584 in Devonshire, England and died February 26, 1656/1657. She was also married to Thomas Hunt. Robert & Jane had a son Francis.

Francis Drake was born about 1618 in Devonshire, Devon, England and died September 24, 1687 in Piscataway Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ. Francis married to Mary (Ann) Polly Walker March 1652/1653 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Mary born about 1625 in Common Wealth, Ireland and died July 29, 1688 in Piscataway Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ. Another source says Mary was born in Hampton, Rockingham County. Francis and Mary had at least the following four children:

Of the above children, Rev. John Drake was born 1655 in Piscataway Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ. and died September 29, 1741 in Essex Co., NJ. He married Rebecca Trotter on July 7, 1677 in Elizabethtown, Middlesex Co., NJ. Rebecca Trotter born July 5, 1655 in Elizabethtown, Middlesex Co., NJ. and died about 1702 in Piscataway Twp. Middlesex Co., NJ. John Drake and Rebecca had a son, Benjamin.

note**Rev. John Drake was also 2nd married to Barbara Scott.

Generation 12

Benjamin Drake was born 1683 in Piscataway, NJ. and died 1763 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ. He married to Mary Runyan, who was born July 2, 1677 in Elizabethtown, Middlesex Co., NJ. and died about 1745. Benjamin and Mary had the following children:

Of the above children, Nathaniel Drake was born in 1724 and died in 1804. He married to Rebecca Stout. Rebecca born 1727 and died about 1788. They had a son, Nathan.

Nathan Drake was born October 6, 1746 in Hopewell Twp., NJ. and died november 26, 1816 in Lexington, KY. He married to Tamar Jones on May 1, 1770 in Hunterdon Co., NJ. Tamar born 1742 and died 1801. They had a son, Enoch Blackwell.

Generation 15

Enoch Blackwell Drake was born October 9, 1779 in Piscataway Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ and died January 14, 1862 in Jefferson Twp., Brown Co., Ohio. He is buried in the Drake Cemetery, Russellville, Brown Co., Ohio. He married to Rachel Hendrickson on June 14, 1798. Rachel born March 23, 1781 in Middlesex Co., NJ and died December 3, 1847 in Brown Co., OH. She is also buried in the Drake Cemetery.

Of the above children, Eura Eaton Drake was born April 25, 1799 in Byrd Twp., Brown Co., Ohio and died 1865 in Streator, Illinois. She married to Christopher Stanfort Chritton on January 19, 1815 in Adams Co., Ohio. Christopher was born 1793 in Hampshire Co., VA. and died January 27, 1850 in Crawfordsville, IN. Christopher was a stone mason and a member of the Baptist Church. He was the 1st to originally spell the name of Chritton with an H, instead of Critton. Christopher and Eura had the following children:
