Personal awards and achievements


In the U.S.

International Recognitions

·        New York, 1989-1994:  

      Invited by the United Nations for 

      four consecutive years to speak 

      on ways to achieve world peace.

·   Nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize

·        105th Congress, 1997:  

      Honorarium read into Congressional Record by Congressman Eliot Engle commending Shri Mataji for her dedicated and tireless work for 

      humanity.

·        Great Britain, 1997:  

      Separate personal tributes paid to Shri

      Mataji from Claes Nobel (Grandnephew of 

      Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel

      Foundation) and Ayatollah Rouhani 

      (leader of the Shia Moslems in Europe)  

      at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

·        Yonkers, NY, 1994  

      September 26th was proclaimed as

     “Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Day” 

      by the Mayor of Yonkers.

·        Romania, 1995:  

      Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Cognitive 

      Science.

·        Philadelphia, 1993:

      October 15th was proclaimed as 

      “Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Day”.

 

·        China, 1995:

      Official guest speaker at the Women’s 

      Conference in Beijing and was official guest 

      of the Chinese Government to speak to 

      the people of China.

·        Cincinnati, 1992:  

      September 10th was proclaimed as

      “Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Day”.

·        Brazil, 1994:  

      The Mayor of Brazil welcomed Shri Mataji 

      at the airport, presented her with the key of 

      the city and sponsored all of her programs.

International Achievements

·        St. Petersburg, 1993:

      Appointed as Honorary Member of the 

      Presidium of the Petrovska Academy of Art 

      and Science. In the history of the Academy 

      only 12 people have ever been granted this 

      honor, Einstein being one of them.

......Shri Mataji has founded many
Non- Governmental Organizations
(NGOs) which include:

¨       An international hospital to help 

      patients from all over the world to 

      use Sahaja Yoga techniques in order

      to treat their ailments. This hospital

      has been producing very successful

      results in alleviating the symptoms 

      of a numberof incurable diseases 

      such as cancer, epilepsy and 

      multiple sclerosis.

·        St. Petersburg, 1993:

      Inaugurated the International Conference 

      on “Medicine and Self-Knowledge”, now an

      annual event.

·        Moscow, 1989:

      Shri Mataji met with the head of the Russian

      (USSR) Ministry of Health. Following this 

      meeting Sahaja Yoga was granted full 

      government sponsorship, including funding

      for promotion and scientific research.

¨       A charity organization for poor people

      in Delhi, India to provide shelter

      to destitute and homeless people, 

      where they can also optionally learn 

      about Sahaja Yoga.

·        Italy 1986:  

      Shri Mataji was declared “Personality of 

      the Year” by the Italian Government.

 

¨     An international music academy 

      to promote classical music as well 

      as classical dance and fine arts.

¨      An international theater company 

      whose international cast and crew 

      has successfully toured throughout 

      Europe, Australia, Israel, India and 

      the US. Its mission is to produce 

      performances that promote racial 

      and cultural understanding worldwide.

·        Meta Modern Era, written by Shri Mataji

     was first published in 1995. It offers a 

     deep insight with solutions for the crises 

     of modern times.
