Crisis of Faith chapter one

"I don't believe this, I just don't believe it! Why? Why now? Hell, it's me Birthday taemorrow. You couldn't stay one more day?"

"Why not now? You know I've been thinking about it for a long time now. I finally made the decision. Fate is forcing my hand on this one. I'm leaving, right now... It has to be now. If I don't..."

Cameron M'uab Dib, Guild master to the fighters stands up hurriedly and knocks the chair he had been sitting in over. He moves to stand over the balcony in the Feasting hall of the guild.

"I just don't get you some days. Yer the one who said it was our job tae protect Moorgate from the "evils that befall it", right? Yer the one who got me tae come back tae this city. And now yer leaving? Don't fool yerself, I came back tae this city because ye asked me tae. After yer father died, I had no reason tae return here. Ye know I like the forests better than these stone walls. Why do ye think I go hunting so often? I do nae revel in the kill, I just need tae get out of this prison we call a city and breathe the air of freedom before I suffocate."

"I know, I know. But you know as well as I do that I have to go. You know I do. I would stay if I could, but...," Jihad M'uab Dib, Knight of Cosrin, gets up from his seat, "but..., ah forget it! You don't care what the hell I say. You won't be happy till you get your way. You were like that, even when we were kids. Well, good-bye brother, I hoped that at least you would understand."

Cameron's knuckles go white as he grips the balcony trying to control himself. Already he could see that several of the guild members had noticed them and had stopped eating.

"What are ye looking at? Get back tae yer feasting!

Just then, the Guild Master could see his brother exiting the stairway from the upper levels. He watches as Jihad gathers his War Stallion from the stables and before he exited the guild, he turned, opened his mouth as if to say something, shook his head and left.

"CRAP!!!", screamed Trollhater as he turned away and threw the table aside, his emotions getting the better of him. He rants and raves for a while but in the end, he collapses against the balcony in tears.

"Good-bye Jihad... I will miss ye, brother, more than ye will ever know..."
