I would like to point out that despite the claims of JB Fields in the Trentonian (newspaper), the boycott campaign of JB Fields products and the stores that carry them has been initiated and organised by FRIENDS OF UNITE 1764, a group of concerned people in Kingston, Toronto, Regina, Ottawa, Trenton, Vancouver, Victoria, and elsewhere in Canada and the United States who are neither members of UNITE nor related to the strikers.

While we are in solidarity with the striking members of UNITE 1764 we are acting entirely independently of them and of the UNITE leadership and have received no assistance from UNITE in the initiation or execution of the boycott and pickets.

We are acting in light of the court ruling in Daishowa vs Friends of the Lubicon which guaranteed the right of concerned citizens to launch secondary boycotts in order to protest a source company's practices.
