The box being any sturdy plastic box with a lid, that is waterproof and fairly large - We use a 63 liter sized tote, which is labelled Common Box
The point of the Common Box is that each tent team does not need to have a collection of these things, but may need some of it over the course of a camp. The tent teams will all likely need mallets - but two mallets will easily service all of the tents of the unit. And a net bag full of coiled rope is more useful than two pieces of rope per team. One team might need three ropes, one team might not use any, and one might need only 1 - it all evens out.
