I have been a Pathfinder Guider with this unit for the past 5 years, and will have
accumulated 25 years as an adult in Guiding by February 2000. I have really enjoyed the fun times we have had at meetings, outings
and at Camp. In Guiding I also keep busy working as an Area Potential
Trainer, and this year working on the planning Committee for the Year 2000,
Eastbrooke Special Events Advisor, the Contact Guider of the 1st Cumberland Guides and also try
to help out at District Level with various positions; ie. Training, Program,
etc. I'm a Science Fiction Buff and an avid Star Wars and Star Trek Fan. In
my spare time at home I enjoy reading, story writing, needlework, crafts and baking.
I keep busy at home with a husband, a 19 year old son and "two" 5 year
old Huskey-Malmute dogs.

I have been a Pathfinder Guider with this unit for 3 years, and I was a Pathfinder
Guider in a unit in Calgary (hello Mary, Barb and Wanda!!). I enjoy working
with the Pathfinder age girl (I have also worked with Brownies, Guides, Beavers
and Cubs) because they constantly amaze me with their capabilities. I just imagine that
I've seen the BEST thing that any girl could ever do, and someone tops it,
or does something else astonishing. They can light stoves, set up tents in rain and darkness,
clean up after themselves WITHOUT complaining and generally have a BLAST under conditions that
would have adults complaining about the heat, the cold, the food, the water... etc. Although
I would like to point out, that none of them are impressed with the Lats, or with mosquitoes.
I love to take these girls out and have them do things that they have never done before.
I have my Guide Canoe Trip Leader's Certificate, and have taken the three oldest girls in the unit
out Canoeing 2 summers ago. It was a lot of work, but the girls really pulled together and did
an amazing job. I love to watch the changes between the ages of twelve and fourteen years. How the
fourteen year olds see the consequences of their actions and really get it all together!!.
