Advanced Training And History Information

This is Blaque's Life story. Read it and enjoy!

History

Age:
  1. Basic Halter Training
was not started proper training. Was sold as a weanling to other owners who ran a breeding and training facility in the Netherlands.
  2. Started training with world reknowned Dutch Dressage Trainer. A good basis of foundation, however the trainer believed in punishment, so Blaque and I had alot to work on when I got him.
  3. Extensive training in flatwork, equitation, and especially dressage
  4. Flown from Netherlands, to New Zealand (where I am currently located) Where he was bought by another lady. She broke him out of his slight abuse, and since she owned a few other rescued horses, sold Blaque to me, since she decided that she couldn't affoard to keep him.
  5. That was just a little while ago, and currently he's being trained at First Level Dressage, and competing at Training Level.
    • Training Level: This establishes the basics for any horse. The horse should move freely at the working pace, be supples and accept the bit. Test movements include: Large 20m circles, and gradual changes of pace.
    • First Level: 15- and 10-meter circles, lengthening of the stride, serpentines, leg-yield and counter canter.
He is also being taught how to jump small caveletti's and gymnastics.
  6. Blaque is training at the 2nd level Dressage now, and is jumping too. He enjoys his time out in the pasture, and also looks forward to his weekly hacks and bran mashes. He was being trained by Zoey for one month to improve his balance and suppleness, but now I'm training him myself.
    • Second Level: Medium gaits, collected gaits, shoulder-in, haunches-in, reinback, walk-canter transitions, counter canter, half-turn on haunches at walk, eight-meter circles.
Blaque Indigo is just starting his debut at 3rd level Dressage, he will now be starting to compete at the second level. I think he's ready but we'll see how he does at his first 2nd Level test.
    • Third Level: Horse must be able to perform extended, collected and medium paces; movements require greater acceptance of the bit, impulsion, and straightness. New test movements are: Half pass, flying change, 8m circle at the canter.
Blaque Indigo is now training at 4th level, and is competing sometimes 2nd, sometimes 3rd level. He is learning to Piaffe and Passage on the Long Lines. He knows how to bow, and he's ready to start showing again.
Blaque's doing nice piaffe and Passage, and doing beautiful changes of canter, and does some tricks too. He does beautiful Tempi Changes, and has a beautiful rythmic canter. His impulsion are always there, and he is truely going to the top. We're just keeping him confident and staying now at the Grand Prix Level. We've finally made it, very slowly and took our time but we made it. We're working on almost everything that I've mentioned here, as well as once a week, just going back to the basics, and having fun with it.
