The Crow was and still is my favortie movie. I watch it at least once a month. Why you ask? Not because I'm a pycho, although some people will differ with you.(they have to lawful proof damn it)But because it is an incredible love story.
Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are supposed to get married on Halloween. But before this can happen they are killed by the local front men for the city's top gangster(gangster as in similar to the mob, not the little homey type of gangbanger) for protesting be evicted from thier building.
They stab, shoot and throw Eric out the window and cut and rape Shelly to near death. She dies in the hospitol after 30 hours of the doctors trying to save her life.
Eric's soul is broght back and he avenges their deaths. The crow represents his power, it could be called an avatar of his power.
Not only is the story just incredible, but the acting is top notch. Eric Draven is played by Brandon Lee. This leads us to the down side from the movie. During a take near the end of filming Brandon was shot by a blank and died. Many people have theories over how it happend and if it really was an accident, but noone knows for sure, and I doubt they ever will.
Brandon Lee was the son of Bruce Lee and acted in several movies before he died. Those that many people know are Showdown in little tokyo, Rapid Fire, and of course The Crow. In his last interview he talked about how life is short, and we never know what will happen. One would almost think he knew what was going to happen. I however think this was a reflection of his life. He grew up hard simply because as Bruce Lee's son everyone wanted a piece of him. When his father died he was devested, they were very close. Because of this I think he came to realize what is so true. You never no when life could come to a stop. Remeber the little things cause they are what really means a lot in life.
