This is the sequel to "Someone's Watching Over Me".
“Teazer!” Mungojerrie chased after his sister. She was crying very hard.
“Tell me to my face I’m pretty!” she screamed at him.
“You’re…pretty,” he said awkwardly.
“How pretty?” she asked.
“Aw, Teaze, I’m your brother…”
“HOW PRETTY?” she demanded.
“Cuter than…Bustopher Jones!”
“Ahhhhhhh!” she whined and ran off crying.
“Rumpel!” he called to his sister. But he didn’t bother trying to catch up with her. He drooped down. She had been dumped twice that day and she thought she was ugly. And it was awkward to tell your twin sister she’s pretty. It’s weird.
“I think she’s a pretty one, Jonathan said to Mungojerrie. “Especially when you make out with her.”
“Jonathan!” Mungojerrie smiled at the joke. “What was I suppose to say? She is cuter than Bustopher!”
“You should have said, ‘Gee, you’re so hot, you ring my bell!’,” Jonathan informed him.
“I’m her brother! It’s too inapt for me. Cause I don’t know how hot she is, cuz she’s my sister.”
“Who the hottest queen in the world?” Jon asked him.
“Well, that’d a toss-up. Bomby’s the sexiest, but Victoria’s the hottest, but Tantomile’s the cutest. And Demeter’s the prettiest.” Matty and Travie butt in.
“What’s the difference between them all?” Trav looked at Matty.
“It’s a Tom thing,” Matty answered.
“How do you know all this stuff?” Travie asked as they walked away. Jerrie and Jonathan shrugged.
“Well, who does she envy the most?” Jon went on.
“Bombalurina by far.”
“So tell her she’s prettier than Bomby.”
“But Bomby’s sexy, not pretty.”
“So? Teazer won’t care,” Jonathan said.
“Jonathan—you live in a bubble.” He walked away and Jonathan just shrugged. Then he realized Matty had walked away without him.
“Wait for me!!!” he called.
Mungojerrie bumped into the Rum Tum Tugger. “How much do you know about girls?” Tugger waved Jemima, Electra, Frivelous and Bearicaide away.
“What happened? Girl dump ya?”
“No…Teazer thinks she’s ugly cuz boys keep dumpin her—Carbucketty and James,” Jerrie explained. “Then she wanted me to tell her she’s hot, and that’s hard, cause I am only her brother. So what can I do?”
“I can’t believe that chick’s been dumped before. I’d think she’d be the dumper. Oh well Anyway, Coricopat has always had a crush on Teazer. So does George. But Coricopat dreams about her at night, and he stares at her in the morning…he even came to me about how to flirt with her, which, by the way, he did not succeed in doing so.” Tugger sat and waited for Mungojerrie to reply.
“So how can I possibly hook them up?” Jerrie asked.
“You’re a clever Tom. You’ll figure it out. Okay girls. Come on.” The girls came back… except Electra and Bearicaide, who were fighting about who Tugger loved more.
Jerrie had an idea. He’d get his buddy Coricopat to write her secret admirer letters. And it wouldn’t being lying, because Coricopat would love the idea, because he’s so shy.
He walked into the alleyway, and Tantomile was on her way out (not normal, since she was practically attatched to her brother until she got her first boyfriend). “Hi honey,” Jerrie kissed her.
“See you tonight.” Tantomile walked past him. “I’ll meet you at Alonzo’s at 9:00!” Mungojerrie nodded and walked over to Coricopat.
“Hey Cori!” he said. You goin’ to Alonzo’s party tonight?” Mungo asked, because he knew Coricopat wasn’t.
“You know I don’t have a queenfriend,” he replied lowly.
“Oh, but you can. Rumpleteazer wants you.”
“She does?” Corico brightened up.
“Yeah. And I think you should send her a secret admirer letters all day. And then the last note of the day, you ask her to Alonzo’s party, but don’t tell her who you are, and then at the party, she finds out who you are!”
“Yes! I like that idea!” Coricopat exclaimed. “I’ll start now!”
“Great! Oh. Here, give this to Tanti.” He pulled a pearl necklace from a pocket in his fur (?).
“Sure!” Corico took it and set it in the sidetable drawer.
“Oh Jerrie!” Teazer beamed. “I got a love letter!” Jerrie smiled.
“Cool!”
“It says: Dear Rumelteazer, I love you and I want you for always. I need you to go on. Please be mine. Love, Your Secret Admirer! Isn’t that wonderful?” she asked.
“Yeah! Maybe he’ll invite you to Alonzo’s.”
“Oh yeah, Tantomile left these tweezers (?) for you.”
“Aw. Isn’t she perfect. I told her I needed new one to pick locks at the Pound. Isn’t she special.” He sounded a bit skeptical at the last sentence.
“She’s becoming annoying, isn’t she?” Teazer patted her brother’s back.
“She’s sweet, kind, nice, perfect, special, magical, and loves me to death…but she’s so…perfect. “I love her like…like…Demeter loves Munkustrap, but she’s becoming a little annoying,” Jerrie said.
“Yeah, but Tantomile’s so nice. She’s perfect for you. Good girl loves bad boy. It’s normal.”
“You think I’m a bad boy?” Mungojerrie smiled.
“Mungo, you can’t hide nothin’ from me. I live here too.” Jerrie smiled.
“Thanks Teazer.” Teazer patted him on the back.
In the junkyard, Matropolis looked Travie in the eye. Along with Pouncival, Tumblebrutus and James. “You’re dating my oldest brother?!” she yelled.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen. I just wanted to give Alonzo a chance. After all, he saved my life,” Travie replied meekly.
“But you still like Misto!” Matty sounded scolding. “And you slept with him!”
“I DID NOT, MATROPOLIS JEAN YORKS!” she screamed.
“Okay, maybe you didn’t,” Matty said more meekly than ever.
“I slept NEXT to him! I was tired!”
“I helped save your life, date me!” Tumble said hopefully.
“You guys don’t understand. I’m not dating Alonzo forever, just until he get all four feet on the ground,” Travie said.
“So you’re lying to him. You’re playing a mean trick on the funniest, nicest, most honorable cat in the world,” Matty became angry.
“No I’m not. I’m helping him.”
“No you’re not! You’re going out with him because you feel sorry for him. He thinks you‘re dating him because you like him. That’s lying Trav!” Matty said.
“It is?” she asked. Pouncival, Tumble and Matty nodded. “Oh my gosh. What am I gonna do?”
“Well,” Matty began. “You’re gonna break up with him, break his heart, watch him day by day melt away, and I’ll call you when he commits suicide.”
“I’m serious, Matty!”
“I told you the truth! He’ll be very depressed when he finds out you don’t like him, and pissed when he finds out you lied to him. That creates depression and Felinal Suicide.”
“But I have to tell him,” Travie said.
“But how?” Matty asked.
“That’s what I asked you!”
“Travie. You are offspring of the superlative rejection feline of all the social milieu. In short translation, ask your mother.” Travie nodded and walked home. Matty and Pouncival followed her, but Tumble went home. He couldn’t stand Bomby anymore.
“Mom! I need some help!”
“I know,” Pouncival snickered. Matty nudged him.
“How do yoou break up with a cat that if you do will commit suicide?”
“Alonzo trouble?”
“How’d you know?”
“Oh, he pulled the same suicide bit with me,” Bomby said, pulling on big heels (don’t ask where the clothed come from).
“That little…!” Travie became infuriated.
The next day, Alonzo wouldn’t get out of bed. He refused. Traive had dumped him. “I can’t face the world with a broken heart.”
“Aw, Al. Travie’s too young for you,” Matty said.
“You need someone your age…hey, how about Frivelous…no,” Clifford kept thinking.
“I’d miss Travie too much,” Alonzo said.
“And everytime to you see Misto you’ll wanna pound his face in,” Clifford tsked. Matty, Sillabub, Chewie and Mezoa nodded in agreement.
“But don’t worry, buddy,” Mezoa patted his back. “You’re the best brother—twin—friend—any cat could have. You have the biggest family in the junkyard, and we’re always here for ya.”
“Yeah. I don’t know why anyone would dump such a great guy like you,” Quaxo added.
“I told her not to,” Matty said. “But she feels that you weren’t right for each other.”
“I know. But now I can’t go on. Now I’ve got to kill myself.”
“Surely you don’t mean that!” Sillabub wailed.
“No. I don’t. But I won’t budge. Not till I die.” Bombalurina walked in.
“Alonzo…you have to face it. The truth hurts. But if you’ll go to the party tonight with me, I’d be honored.” She kissed him.
“But I miss your daughter,” he said.
“Oh, please. She doesn’t like you, so how could you possibly love her? You can be her friend, sure, but I love you back. I miss you when you’re gone.”
“You mean it?”
“Yes.”
“Then you promise you won’t cheat on me?”
“Promise.”
“Then I’ll go.” They hugged each other.
“Okay Clifford, lights out,” Matty said. The lights dimmed and Clifford carried the tape recorder away. “I can’t take the mushiness!”
