Marguerite is highly intelligent and a very talented linguistic. She is able to learn languages and translate them after only seeing or hearing a short sample of the language. She is courageous and knows how to handle a gun and a sword.
Marguerite funded the expedition to the plateau on the condition that she accompanied it. Throughout her time on the plateau she has constantly been searching for gems and jewels. Her search for valuable gems has got her and the rest expedition in trouble on more then one occasion. She usually uses her intelligence and femininity to manipulate her opponents to get her and her friends out of trouble. Unfortunately, this has caused the other members of the expedition to become mad at her because sheusually ends up in comfortable quarters and the rest in jai cell. When she first joined the group she was selfish and self-absorbed but as time progressed she has become more a member of the family and accepting of her situation. Her relationships with the other members of the expedition has also deepened as she spends more time with the group.She developed an almost father/daughter relationship with Professor Summerlee. She has described Veronica as her sister, despite their differences. Her feelings for Roxton seem to deepen and develop with each new adventure, and they have shared more then a few intimate moments.
Not much is known about Marguerite's past. She was raised at convent
schools and had little if any contact with her parents growing up. She
became an heiress. She spent time in Paris working in a bar with her best
friend singing. Her friend made a deal with some men, but didn't live up to
her end of the bargain, and was killed by them. Marguerite fled with the
jewels they were after to Monaco when she thought they were coming
back for her. She then married a "man with two mistresses and an
over-draft." It is not known if her husband died or if she divorced him, but
she described herself as "a grieving widow or an international jewel thief,
wanted on five continents." She was also joked about being married more
then once.
During one episode, a German pilot from World War 1, tried to kill Marguerite. When the others interfered he asked them "Do you know what type of woman you are protecting?" This was no the only German who tried to kill her. In the Pilot, The Journey Begins she was followed into an alley by a German who had been paid to kill her, but she shot him first. Marguerite also in Into the Fire told/joked to the others that she had been a stowaway on a blimp. She also to Asquwith that she understood government secrets regarding the war and time spent in prison.
