Cameron Mathison joined the cast of All My Children in January, 1998, as Ryan Lavery, the smart, slick-talking and sexy con man who has lifted a little cash and a few hearts since he arrived in Pine Valley. He is newly betrothed to Princess Gillian, but their idea of wedded bliss leaves a little to be desired.
Born and raised in Canada, Mathison makes his feature film debut in the Miramax release, 54. He also recently finished filming an independant film. His television credits include F/X -- The Series, the television movie, Any Mother’s Son, with Bonnie Bedelia, and The Defenders, with Beau Bridges.
Mathison attended McGill University in Montreal and graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and a 3.65 grade point average.
In his time away from the set, Mathison is quite a sports enthusiast. He is a twelve-handicap golfer, an avid skier and plays an occasional game of tennis. Mathison, who has a passion for photography, can sometimes be found around Manhattan snapping the sights.

Ryan and Gillian had a sensual, romantic wedding night, but the fighting began shortly after when Kelsey and Scott revealed the newlyweds were broke. Ryan and Gillian spent months denying their love for each other. The fighting and bickering continued as Ryan lusted after Gillian and she resisted. Gillian finally admitted that she loved Ryan, but he couldn't honestly say the same in return.
Hurt, Gillian began an affair with dastardly Doctor David Hayward. The night that Ryan realized and decided to admit his love to Gillian, he found her in bed with David Hayward. That night Ryan went to a bar where he met Jack's sister Kit Fisher aka Christine Montgomery. Kit accused Ryan of raping her that Halloween night after Ryan and Kit had serious flirtation and Kit put a stop to it abruptly. Blood test matched a sample on Kit's skirt was 70% with Ryan, who was arrested at the Crystal Ball before all of Pine Valley.
During Ryan's fight to prove his innocence in the rape, Gillian stood by him and they reunited. Their happiness was short-lived when Gillian was so desperate to help Ryan that she slept with David again to get Ryan's bail money and then offered to sleep with David again to get money so she and Ryan could flee the country. David tricked Gillian by saying he wanted to help and didn't require sex from her in return, but he got her to reveal her hideaway with Ryan. David went to the hideaway and revealed Gillian's sexual misdeeds to Ryan, who was devastated and could not forgive her. This was made worse when David then revealed Ryan's whereabouts to the police.
Ryan was locked up in jail, where he learned his brother Braden had been in town since the Fall (without Ryan's knowledge) and figured out that Braden must be the rapist. Because Braden had taken many beatings for Ryan from their father while growing up, and because Braden's career as a Vice President at Cortlandt Electronics was going so well, Ryan decided, after denying it for months, to confess to raping Kit to cover for Braden. The truth came out when Dixie convinced Braden not to go to Japan and leave Ryan to pay for Braden's misdeed. Braden came to the court as Ryan was being sentenced and announced that he had consensual sex with Kit on Halloween. Braden was able to walk away.
Ryan was so devastated that he felt he could trust nothing-especially not himself. He told Gillian he forgave her for sleeping with David, but the situation with his brother had left him unable to be with her anymore. Ryan feared he would hurt Gillian, that like Braden, he could become like their father. Despite his love for Gillian, Ryan pushed her away.
Finally, Gillian decided to pursue a divorce because it's what Ryan said he wanted. The divorce went through before either Gillian or Ryan could say it's not what they really wanted. Ryan took a job at SOS, where he further developed a close friendship with Mateo and Hayley Santos. Ryan is there for Hayley in her tough times with playing second fiddle to Mateo's son. Hayley went to jail to help Ryan flee prosecution and staunchly defended him throughout the rape investigation. After seeing an upset Hayley leave SOS on July 4th, followed her to the beach. Hayley's clothes are strewn and he sees her off in the water. Frightened she's taking her final swim, he rushes in after her and brings her back to the sand. Before either realizes what's happening, Ryan's kissing Hayley and she's kissing him back. What neither knew was that Gillian witnessed their kiss. Later Ryan tried to explain to Gillian that the kiss meant nothing, but Gillian is unforgiving. She promised not to tell Mateo about the kiss, but Mateo overheard Gillian talking about it.
After that, all hell broke loose. Both couples are just now begining to work their ways back to each other. And you know what they say, it's a long hard road outta hell.
