It was 7:00 A.M. Gillian had not slept a wink last night so she was up and ready for work early. She decided to go to work early and try to get her mind of what happened last night. When she arrived, Jake noticed her and wondered to himself why she was there so early. He decided to go and see what was up with her.
J-Hey, what are you doing here at 7:00?
A plain look on his face and curosity in his voice.
G-Oh I was just ... Well I was just bored that's all.
A little nervous and shakiness in her voice. Her face was obviously trying to hide something.
J-Gillian, are you ok?
He now sounded concerned and looked a little worried.
G-Ya of course I am Jake. Why wouldn't I be? No reason right? She lifted her eyebrows. She responded way too quickly and didn't breath in between words . Jake didn't believe her for a second but decided she wouldn't admit anything. He would
just have to let it go for now.
J-Ok then, I was just making sure.
G-Well I am fine Jake and I don't have to be looked on like a child ok?
She was angry and really touchy. He put his hands up and surrendered.
J-Ok I was just making sure.
A little scared of her at the moment.
G-Ok well don't. Excuse me I have work to do now.
Gillian left the room. Jake was concerned and called Ryan to see what was up with her. He picked up the phone and dialed the number. It rang once, twice and Ryan
picked up.
R-Hello?
J-Hey, Ryan it's Jake.
R-Oh hey what's up?
In a casual, friendly voice.
J-I was going to ask you the same thing.
A little impatient.
R-What are you talking about Martin?
J-Gillian!
In the same tone he had before.
R-What about her?
Now worried and trying not to jump to conclusions.
J-Today she came in about 2 hours early and when I asked her what was wrong she got all touchy and irritated with me.
R-Is she ok?
J-I was hoping you could tell me that.
"Paging Dr.Martin, paging Dr.Jake Martin. You're needed in surgery."
J-Ok listen, I have to go. Their paging me, but Ryan check up on her. Something is surley wrong.
He then hung up the phone and went to surgery. Ryne was now worried and thinking of what could be wrong.
Ryan had been thinking all day of what could be wrong with Gillian but he couldn't think of anything. He then had an idea to invite her to his apartment and try to get her to talk. He left the house to go pick up Gillian.
At the Hospital Gillian was running around doing her work when Ryan walked in the door. Just then Gillian came down the hall and collided with him.
G-Oh I'm sorry.
R-No I am ...Gillian!
G-Oh Ryan I didn't even see it was you.
R-Hey it's ok. I'm happy it was you, come on. He took her arm and lifted her up.
G-Go where?
She lifted her eyebrows again and had a confused look on her face.
R-To my house! Where else?
A casual look was on his face and in his voice.
G-Ryan I'm working I can't just leave.
A little irritated.
R-You talked to Jake and he pulled a few strings and you are free to
leave.
He said in a breezy tone.
G-You shouldn't do that, Ryne. I mean you can't just expect me to jump when you want to go somewhere.
An angry voice and a upset look on her face.
R-I don't, Gillian. I just thought it might be nice to take a small break that's all.
He said in a a convincing tone.
G-Fine, but don't do it anymore. In a calm voice now and still an upset look on her face. They both left and got into Ryan's car. She stayed quiet the whole time and
would not look at him. Ryan now saw what Jake meant and was really concerned about her. They finally pulled up at Ryan's apartment. They went upstairs and headed in.
R-Sit down and relax.
She did as he said and then he sat next to her on the couch.
R-Ok princess I was going to ease you into this but you have not said
anything to me the whole time. I am worried about you now.
He looked into her eyes and you could see he was in pain not knowing what was the matter.
G-Not you too. Ryan I am fine ok? I guess am just a little stressed right now.
She said in a calm and caring tone with a caring look on her face.
R-What has you so stressed like this?
He said in the same tone and look he had before.
G-A lot of things.
She said with a scared tone in her voice and her face was white.
R-Like what?
Gillian was nervous of what she was going to say and had to think quickly.
G-Work, us. I have been thinking about Dimitry...do you need any other reasons?
Now she had the tone and look Ryan did. He smiled in relief because that was all it was and looked up at her.
R-Good then. I made some dinner if you like?
G-Ok I'm starved.
R-Ok wait here and I'll get it.
Ryan left the room and came back shortly with a small tray of food and some wine.
G-Oh that's lovely.
R-I'm happy you like it so far.
He kissed her and she kissed him back. Their kiss grew deeper and more passionate. Ryan pushed the tray back and started to un button his shirt and then she slipped hers off. They were undressed and kissed deeper and deeper.
(some time later) Ryan and Gillian lay on the couch with the quilt over them. Gillian fell asleep in his arms and he leaned backed and watched her until he dozed off himself.
Gillian woke up just as the sun was rising. She looked at the time on the clock it was 5:30 A.M. The sun had a late rising today. She had to be at work by 6:00 today so she hopped in the shower and got dressed. Then she went downstairs and left a note for Ryan to read when he woke up. Just as Gillian left, Ryan woke up. When he couldn't find her he got alarmed because they had still not caught the murderer from halloween. He was just about to call Edmund to see if she was there but he then saw the note. It read:
Dear Ryan, I had to be at work early today and did not want to disturb you . Love, Gillian.Ryan placed the note on the table. He stretched and yawned at the same time. He then went to go get ready for work himself.
Later at the hosiptal, Gillian was on break and was reading a magizine when Haley walked through the door. She decided to approach her to see how she was feeling.
H:Hi, Gillian. How are you?
She said in a cheerfull tone. Maybe just too cheerful.
Gillian put down the magizine to see who it was.
G: Hello. I'm ok you?
She said in a casual, friendly tone. Haley had this huge glow and she looked like she was about to burst with good news.
H:I am so happy Gillian.
G:What has you so happy at this hour in the morning?
She said in a curious and tired tone.
H:Because I think I might be pregnant!!!!
She bursted out with a huge smile on her face. Gillian got up to hug her friend and congratulate her.
G:Really? How do you know for sure?
She said, happy for her friend.
H:Well I don't. Not yet that is. That's why I'm here. Dr. Clater was testing me and he said the results would be in tommorow. She seemed excited and couldn't wait to find out.
G:Well that's great news.
H:I know I'm so happy. I mean even if I'm not pregnant, Dr. Clater still brought up the possibility. It is a great sign that I'm better and I can have
children now.
G:Have you had any symptoms yet?
H:Ya actually I have. I've been having morning sickness, cramps. I really think that I am.
She said in a calm voice. She was glowing more then ever.
G:I hope you are Haley. This is what you and Mateo want more then anything in the world.
H:Thanks. Well I have to go. I am late already. I was suppose to be at the club a half hour ago. Oh Gillian please don't tell anyone not yet at least I want to make sure first.
She said slightly nervously.
G:I won't. Dont't worry. Bye! Have fun.
H:Ya right!
She said laughing a little bit. Haley then left. Gillian had to get back to work but she wasn't really paying attention. She couldn't help but think what it would be like to have children of her own.
Gillian entered the loft about an hour after leaving Ryan. She took the bag
from the store and went into the bathroom.She sat there waiting for the timer
to ding to tell her if the test was ready or not .
G:(Inpatience )Come on. How long does this take ?
She picked up the box and read it 5-10 minutes it said .
Those 10 minutes seemed like a lifetime to Gillian .
Tick ,Tick ,Tick ,Tick ,Ding .
When she herd the timer go off she went to go pick it up but herd a noise and
tossed it into the hamper .She came out of the bathroom and saw scott
standing there.
G:Hi ,Scott .
Gillian was trying not to sound worried or show the worried expression oh her
face but Scott was not fooled .
S:What's wrong ?He had noticed the fake tone in her voice and started
questioning her .
G:(Nervous)Nothing ,why would there be ?
Scott let they feeling pass and changed the subject quickly .
S:(Normal tone )Oh don't worry about me sticking around much longer i found
place and will move in next week .
Gillian didn't answer him .She got up from the couch and went to Ryan's and
her room .
Scott headed to take a shower when he noticed a bag on the floor and a empty
box in it .He picked up the box it read:
One step clear and easy to read pergency test .Scott started looking for the tester to see if she was pregent but he could not find it .He then Decided to have a little fun with this (since she didn't know he knew that she might be pregent).He went and knocked on her door and she opened her door .
M-This is what i have in mind Gillian ,I have the power to hurt your family and you know what i will unless...
G-Unless what ? She is now nervouse and trembling .Her face grew white and she felt this feeling like she is stepping into trap.
M-You sleep with me .He said looking right into her eyes in a calm easy voice.
G-What if i dont? Still trembling and now looking him right in the eyes her voice steady and strong.
M-Then Sammy,Matty and Edmund will be in the line of fire ,but if you do i promise to leave you and your family alone forever! He had this evil look in his eye's and this unforgetable tone in his voice ,it was calm but dastardly at the same time .
G-You promise that you will never come back again .
M-Yes and i won't tell a soul .He kept moving closer to her .He took his hand and rubbed it up her arm.
G-Her voice in anger,disgust,she tried to hide her sadness but she couldn't her voice was low and shacky .Fine She then came back to reality .Her face now white and tear's froming in her eye's .
Scott was worried that something might be wrong with Gillian ,maybe she
does know and know's something is wrong he thought to himself but his
thought's were broken by the sound of the door closing .
S:Hay man .Were you been ? He was trying not to show his worriedness and
happyness to ryan .
R:Oh i have been talking with Liza. Were's Gillian ?
Ryan was exhusted and didn't want to have small talk
S:In her your room .
Scott then decided they needed to be alone so went to go see if becca would
talk to him yet .
Ryan walked over to the door to his room and tried to get in but it waslocked .
R:Princess ,well you let me in .
G:Ryan i look awful at the moment just take your shower first .Please .
Gillian had been crying and thought if ryan took his shower first it would
buy her some time to clean herself up .R:Ok fine .
Ryan went into the bathroom took off his shirt and placed it in the hamper
but right before he closed the top of the hamper he noticed a pieace of white
plastic and when he picked it up he was shocked
R:She's pregent .
His face was overcome with joy and excitment .
Just at that moment Gillian remembered the pregency test and that ryan was
going to find it .She jumped up and went to the bathroom but saw he had
already seen it.Her face grew pale and she was cold all of a sudden .
Ryan turned around and saw her standing there .
R:(Same tone of happyness and excitment)Why didn't you tell me ?
G:I was going to but you saw it before i had chance.
R:Why was it in the hamper ? He was now more suspicouse but he still had that
smile on his face .
G:(Her face grew white and she was thinking fast )I must of dropped it that's
all .Ryan Hugged her so tight but so gentle
R:Were going to have a baby .Us .I love you so much princess and i love our
baby .He said while still hugging her .
G:(Worried and her face white )Ya a baby .
Her voice was wobbly and she couldn't let him see her face.
G:Thanks. She seemed to be off in a far place like her own little world and she was.
Gillian thinking back: Ryan Hugged her so tight but so gentle
R:We're going to have a baby. Us. I love you so much princess and I love our baby.
G:Ya a baby.
CHAPTER 18
Gillian had been thinking for a while now .She had been thiking about her life as it was ,as it is ,and as it is giong to be . She thought of how Ryan's life would be if he found out the love of his life (Gillian) was having a baby that wasn't his .
