stuff!Chapter 1
stuff!It was Christmas Eve and Gillian was still stuck in the hospital. Jake was called out of town on hospital business so Gillian was getting lonely. Gillian lay back on her bed and saw a piece of mistletoe above the door of her room. A smile crept across her face as she remembered last Christmas with Ryan. A single tear slipped down her face and she quickly brushed it away with the back of her hand "I can't let myself do this" she said to herself "Ryan doesn't love me anymore." "HO HO HO" Ryan said opening the door of Gillian's room with a bag of presents "Merry Christmas!" Gillian smiled, "Ry.." she paused and tried as hard as she could to say his name but only could manage Ry. Ryan smiled,"It's alright princess." He slipped off his coat and threw it on the chair. "I brought you some gifts" Gillian smiled again and Ryan sat down on the side of the bed and pulled out a rather large box, "Here open it" Ryan said handing it to Gillian.
Gillian tore off the paper and opened the box. She pulled out a young girl's play tierra. Gillian smiled "A tierra" she said without much trouble. Ryan laughed "Yes! A Princess deserves a tierra. And if I remember correctly you had to give yours away. And all princesses need a proper tierra to be complete." Ryan gently took the plastic tierra out of Gillian's hands and placed it on her head "I know it's not much and it's defintely not real but..." Gillian interrupted "It's" she paused, "It's beauty, it's beautiful....I like." She placed her hand on her tierra to situate it on her head. Ryan smiled, "I'm glad you like it." Ryan fumbled in his bag and pulled out another gift. This one was a smaller box and neatly wrapped, "I got you this too."
Gillian took the box and tore into this one as well. Gillian opened the box and covered her mouth. A small glass angel, with the words Gilly: An Earthly Angel was inscripted on the bottom of the small bell angel. Gillian started to cry. Ryan gently wipped away her tears, "Hey don't cry Princess." Gillian, embarassed, turned her head to the side. "I didn't...no present for you" Gillian said softly. Ryan shook his head, "It's ok. Really, I didn't expect you to get me anything. I don't want us to be strangers or anything, so I just picked these up while I was in New York. It was nothing really." He paused for a moment to gather his thoughts, "Do you" he laughed a little uncomfortably "Do you think we can be friends? Is that possible after all we've been through?" He looked at Gillian's face tenderly "Because Gillian, I'd really like to be your friend." He quickly added "That is if you want to be friends."
Gillian nodded, "Friends" and pulled out her hand. Ryan looked up at Gillian and smiled, "Friends" and they shook on it.
(Christmas Day) Jake returned from his business trip and burst into Gillian's room "Hey there, Merry Christmas! Sorry I had to leave so suddenly. I know I promised to get you out by Christmas, but" Gillian's smile vanished "No go?" she asked looking away from Jake. Jake walked over to Gillian's bed, "Yes go!" Jake laughed "I was just going to applogize for making you stay here for part of Christmas. I just had Alex sign your release papers! You can go home today. Right now, if you want." Gillian jumped out of bed, "Let go." Jake smiled, "I'll leave you here to get dressed and I'll be back in a few to bust you out of here." Jake noticed Gillian's tierra on the nightstand, "What's this?" He said walking over to it and picking it up. Gillian smiled and took it from Jake, "Ry.." Jake nodded looking a little upset, "Ryan." Gillian nodded, "Present." Jake forced a smile "That was nice." Gillian smiled. She quickly pushed Jake toward the door, "Bye!" Jake laughed, "Right you want to go home." Gillian opened the door "I'm going I'm going!" Jake yelled as Gillian pushed him outside. Gillian walked toward the nightstand and picked up the tierra. "Ry" Gillian said collasping on the bed.
(Later that day) Gillian walked into Wildwind and saw wrapping paper and presents scattered throughout the living room. Sam and Maddie were busy playing with some new toys and Edmund was sitting on the couch trying to put some Barbie house together for Maddie.Gillian cleared her throat, "Supper" She shook her head "Super-" Edmund jumped up from the couch "Suprise!" He said for her and ran over to her "Gillian, it's so good to see you!" "Merry Christmas" she said giving Edmund a hug "Good be home" "It's great to have you home!" Edmund said smiling "Come on in. How are you?" "Ok" Gillian said smiling as Sam and Maddie were busily playing on the floor.
Edmund went over to the tree and pulled out a few presents and handed them to Gillian, "We were going to stop by the hospital later" Gillian smiled, "Thanks." Edmund handed Gillian some eggnog and plopped down on the couch, "I wish Santa would bring toys that were already put together" Edmund said winking at Gillian as he continued to plug away at the house.
Ryan was at the loft eating a pizza when he heard the doorbell. He grabbed a shirt and opened the door. Greenlee stood looking seductive and pushed passed Ryan, "Merry Christmas big boy." Ryan shut the door, "Greenlee" he said walking over to her "Shouldn't you be enjoying Christmas with your grandmother or something?" "Granny's boring besides I have more exciting things on my mind" Greenlee said unbuttoning Ryan's shirt kissing his chest. Ryan closed his eyes and Gillian's face popped into his mind. He tried to shake her out of his mind but he couldn't. He kissed Greenlee and started to slip off her shirt but a memory of him and Gillian popped into his mind and he stopped, "Greenlee, I can't do this now." Greenlee pulled back looking mad, "Why not?" "I just can't" And he walked over to the door and grabbed Greenlee's coat and opened the door "Sorry, but I want you to go." "I don't think you mean that" Greenlee said trying to kiss Ryan. "Yes. Yes I do" Ryan said, "Now go." Greenlee walked past Ryan and grabbed her coat, "Your loss."
Ryan smiled and shook his head and slammed the door as Greenlee left. Ryan walked over to the couch and sat down, "Damn it!" He said placing his head in his hands "Why can't I get Gillian out of my head?"
(Later) Ryan was sitting in his boxer shorts watching, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," when he heard another knock on the door. He got up and stomped over to the door "Greenlee I thought I told you-" Ryan said but he stopped and smiled "Gillian!" "What are you doing here?" Gillian smiled, "I out of hospital." "You're out of the hospital." Ryan said, "That's so great!" Gillian smiled, "May I enter?" Ryan laughed, "Yes you may."
Gillian walked over and sat down on the couch. "So what brings you by?" Ryan said. Gillian handed Ryan a gift, "Present." Ryan looked at Gillian, "You didn't have to do that." Gillian nodded, "Yes." Ryan opened the package and found a brass nameplate. "Ryan Lavery" Ryan said, reading it outloud. Gillian smiled, "For your desk." "That's very nice. Thank you" "Movie?" Gillian asked looking at the TV. "Only the best Christmas movie." "May I watch?" Gillian asked eating some popcorn, "Who the green guy?" Gillian asked. Ryan laughed, "You mean you've never seen this movie?" Gillian shook her head, "No." "This is called, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. You better stay because you haven't experienced Christmas till you've watched this movie." "Grinch," Gillian said grabbing some more popcorn, "He ugly." Ryan smiled and threw some popcorn at Gillian, "Hey, don't make fun of this movie or the grinch!" Gillian laughed, "Ok, I promise" And the two settled back to finish the movie.
Chapter 2Ryan was busily working at his desk at WRCW when he heard a knock on his door. "Excuse me, but isn't it illegal to work the day after Christmas?" Greenlee asked standing in the doorway of his office looking seductive. Ryan looked up for a brief moment "Last I checked it was perfectly legal" "What's eating your pants?" Greenlee asked walking over to Ryan's desk "You've been so cranky lately." "Greenlee I really don't have time for this" Ryan said trying to finish his writing. "I bought you a little gift," Greenlee said handing Ryan a box. Ryan smiled, "Oh." Ryan put down his pen and ripped open the box. His face dropped as he pulled out a sexy black piece of lingerie. "Gee Greens what am I supposed to do with this?" Greenlee smiled "You're supposed to give it to me to wear." Ryan smiled "What a great present" he said sarcastically.
Greenlee grabbed it and held it against her slim body "Don't you want to see me in this?" Ryan looked at her holding it up and thought of Gillian in it. He imagined grabbing her and throwing her on his desk and kissing her passionately. "Of course I want to see you in that Gillian. You're so beautiful" Greenlee's face grew sour "Greenlee, Ryan. The name is Greenlee." Ryan shook out of his fantasy "Right, sorry" Greenlee threw the lingerie down. Ryan shook his head "Look Green, I'm sorry but I really can't do this right now. I'm too distracted" Greenlee left the box on Ryan's desk "Well you know what? Let me know when you're un-distracted, because I'm really getting sick of this." And with that Greenlee left Ryan's office. Ryan rubbed his forehead and ran his hand through his hair. He picked up a small picture of Gillian that still sat on his desk, "Gilly," he whispered.
Gillian and Jake were dining at the Valley Inn. Gillian was picking at her food "Jake, want to dance?" Jake smiled "I'd love to dance with you" Jake put his napkin on the table and grabbed Gillian's hand. Gillian restedher head on Jake's shoulder as they swayed to the music. Suddenly the music changed and Gillian and Jake headed back to their table. "Do you want dessert?" Jake asked. "No, I'm stuffed" Gillian said. Jake smiled "How about if we shared a piece of pie?" Gillian thought for a second "OK" Jake waved a waiter over and they ordeded a piece of apple pie.
Jake and Gillian chatted about different things when Ryan wandered in. He stopped as he saw Jake and Gillian laughing and having a good time. He watched them for awhile and saw Jake reach into his pocket and pull out a box. The music in Valley Inn stopped as Jake took Gillian's hand...
Ryan stood outside Greenlee's house and wiped a tear from his face. He didn't want to be here but he wanted the pain to end. He knew that he didn't deserve Gillian, but the ache in his heart was so strong. He wanted her so badly and he couldn't have her. Ryan shook his head "I can't do this. I won't!" So not wanting to second guess himself, Ryan knocked loudly and quickly on the front door. Greenlee opened the door and Ryan didn't waste any time. He grabbed her into his arms and started kissing her. He ripped off her shirt and threw off his coat. He picked her up and headed upstairs. Greenlee smiled as she started kissing Ryan's neck.
Gillian looked at the ring and looked up at Jake's face and gently stroked it. Jake repeated the question "So will you marry me?"
