Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Nick and Brian were home and watching a movie. Nick asked his friend: “Bri, don’t you think we should turn that off, it’s so boring....” Brian didn’t answer so Nick looked at him. “You look... awful, man, what’s up with you?” This time, Brian looked up but again, said nothing. “Brian, come on, what’s wrong?”

“I don’t know... Actually, I was thinking about Sam.”

Samantha Richards. Nick knew just how much she had hurted his friend and he really hated her. They had been going out for about two years now and Brian didn’t knew half the things she had done behind his back and Nick had never told him. She used to be so nice when they met but being known because she was Brian’s girlfriend had gotten to her head. She was now the most selfish human being Nick knew.

“What are you going to do about her?”

“I’m going to tell her it’s over. I should have done this a long time ago Nick but I kept on thinking it would maybe get better. It didn’t. And I think that along the way, I just stopped loving her.”

Nick nodded. “Why now Brian? I've been telling you to get ride of that… of her for a year!”

Brian took his time to answer. “Do you remember the reporter who did the interview with us two days ago? Her name is Alishia Crew.”

“Yes, I remember. She was really nice and good looking.” Nick smiled. He hoped things would get better soon for his friend.

Alishia was in her appartment, thinking about the past few days. She had arrived in Orlando 4 days ago and she already loved it. The only thing she really missed was her best friend, Sabrina, who lived in Québec, Canada. She was even more crazy about the Backstreet Boys then Alishia and particularly about Nick. Alishia wrote her a long letter about her new life here and about meeting them. She told her just how nice all the boys were and that Brian had even offered her a ride home. 'I was so stupid to refuse but I was very nervous to have him beside me,' she wrote. 'And the feel of his hand on my shoulder…' Alishia had always admired Brian and everyone knew that! But just for Sab, she did a complete description of Nick and invited her over for her next long weekend. Sabrina was a year and a half younger than Alishia but she had always been very mature for her age. She was so into writing that she jumped when the doorbell rang. 'Who could it be? I don't know anyone here'.

“Hi Ali!” It was Justin Timberlake. She had been the lucky winner of a date with ‘N Sync two years ago and they had been very good friends ever since.

“Justy!” She hugged him very tight. “How are you?”

“I’m fine, except for the fact that my best friend moved to Orlando without even telling me!” He didn’t sounded angry, just happy to see her.

“I just arrived 4 days ago and I’ve been so occupied with the appartment and my new job. Can you believe I'm working at the most popular entertainment magaszine in the country? I already did my first interview. Guess with who? You'll never guess! The Backstreet Boys! It was sooo exciting Justy! They are such wonderful guys! And Brian even offered me a ride!"

"Calm down Ali!" He took her in his arms again. "I'm so happy to you."

"Me too. I was going to call you... how did you found me?”

“I called at your house to talk to you and your mom told me you were here and gave me the address. So here I am!” He smiled.

“Do you want something to drink? Or to eat? What do you want to do?” she asked him.

“Actually, I was in the mood to take you out! Do you want to go dancing? I know a nice little place…”

Alishia smiled. He hadn’t changed.

Brian walked down the stairs, looking very good as always with his Tommy pants and a new navy shirt.

“Where are you going?” Nick asked him.

“See Samantha.” He looked very determinated.

“Do you know where she is?”

“Probably at her favorite club.”

“Good luck man!”

“Thanks Frack. I’ll need it!"

A little while later, Brian found Samantha. He had been right, she was at her club, flirting with everything that moved. “Samantha, I’m very sorry, but it’s over.” Brian said that for the fifth time in ten minutes. She had started by crying, then she ignored him, after that she yelled and now she was crying again. Brian thought she was probably just embarrased because some of her friends were there. He knew she had been playing a game with him and he was tired of it. He always lost. But for the first time, he would win over Samantha. “Bye.” He left her standing there, alone. He went at the counter and ordered something to drink. That’s when he saw her.

At the same club, Alishia and Justin were having a good time.

“Are you going on tour soon?” Alishia asked Justin.

“I’m leaving in 3 days for 2 months and a half. It’s too bad that you just arrived and I have to leave. Wait a sec, I have to go to the bathroom.”

She smiled. Justin was so nice with her. He was her best friend, along with Sabrina. It was nice knowing somebody here.

Suddenly, a hand gently touched her shoulder. Just by the way he touched her, she knew it was: “Brian Littrell. I’m very happy to see you again. How are you?”

“I’m fine. Thank you.” The high-beat music change into a romantic ballad. “Would you like to dance?” he asked her, smiling. “With pleasure.” she answered. 'He's such a sweetie,' she thought.

He took her hand and lead her to the dance floor. She put her arms around his shoulders and him, around her waist. ‘He is such a good dancer’.

Then she saw Justin, sitting at the counter and looking at her. He smiled at her in an encouraging way. He looked at his watch, pointed a hand at it and she nodded. He had to go. He waved good bye and sent her a flying kiss.

The music was almost over when they looked at each other. Brian bent over a little and kissed her gently. It was the sweetest kissed she had ever received in her life. His lips were so soft, tasted so good. They kissed again.

A pair of hand seperated them abruptly, taking away the magic. A girl came in front of Alishia and started screaming at Brian.

“You asshole! You were cheating on me! I can’t believe it, Brian!” She slapped him in the face and he didn’t have time to react before she continued. “Everything was so perfect and you had to cheat on me with the first girl who came accross your way! I knew all along you were like that but I loved you! I would never have done anything like it to you!” He pushed her aside but it was too late. Alishia was gone.
