A week had passed by. Brian was cooking supper with A.J. while Nick was sitting at the table, looking at them and waiting to be served. They were all in a very good mood. Nick had teased them all day but they had a great time anyways.
“What are you guys doing tonight?” A.J. asked.
“I should probably go out and flirt a bit, but I guess I’m not in the mood. You know, I haven’t done that in a long time!” Nick said, kind of proud.
“Yeah, what’s wrong with you!?!” Brian said.
“I don’t know, I guess I’m just weak these days. I'm always tired.” Turning the conversation around, he asked Brian, “What’s going on with that girl, Alishia?” Brian hadn’t said one thing about her since the day he broke up with Samantha.
“Who?” A.J. asked.
“Alishia. She’s the reporter who did an interview with us about 2 weeks ago. Brian has a thing for her and I want to know what’s up with that!!!” Nick was messing up Brian’s hair, who pushed him away.
“Stop it Nick!” he said, laughing. “I haven’t seen her since the day at the club. She left without giving me her number and I have no idea where she lives.”
“Did you called the magazine?” A.J., asked, while searching for something to drink.
“Which magazine?” Brian said, puzzled.
A.J. turned around. “Wake up Brian! The magazine she workes for!”
He hadn’t thought about that. He ran to his room, found the phone book and dialed the number. “Hi, may I speak with Alishia Crew please.”
“She is doing an interview at the moment, can I take a message?” “Could you please tell me how I can reach her?” he asked nervously.
“I'm sorry, I can’t you give her private phone number or address, but she should be finish soon. Maybe you could call again in about twenty minutes.”
“Thank you very much!” He hanged the telephone, changed into some classic beige pants and a forest green shirt, ran down the stairs and he was already out when A.J. called him to eat supper.
He drived his blue jeep very fast to the magazine office and he parked in front of the main entrance. He was getting out when he saw her running threw the rain and entering a bus cabin. Where was her car? He took the umbrella that he always kept in his backseat and ran to the cabin.
“Alishia?” “Brian! How are you?” She kissed him on both cheeks and smiled. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you.”
She looked worried. “Is something wrong?”
“No, no, nothing important. Can I offer you a ride home?”
“Of course, thank you! I hate having to take the bus but my car broke down yesterday. Good thing I hadn't bought it yet!”
They went to the car and he started driving. “Where do you live?”
“I have an appartment a couple of streets away. It’s near but too far to walk, especially in the rain.” She made a pause. “Tell me, why did you wanted to see me?”
He took a deep breath. “I wanted to talk to you about the other night.”
Her smile was gone and she looked out of the window. “There’s not much to say Brian.”
“It’s not what you think. It was over with her but she just didn’t get it! Alishia, you don’t know Sam, you just can’t understand but please, trust me, it was over and it still is.”
“Turn right here.” There was a pause. “I believe you Brian but it doesn’t really change anything. I didn’t came here to fall in love, I came to become a famous reporter and especially, be independant. ... It’s here.”
She opened the door and got out of the car. The visibility was not good on the road and there were a lot of lightnings. A storm was coming their way. “Do you want to come in? Take a drink or something like that?”
Brian wasn’t sure whether to accept the invitation or not. She did tell him she wasn’t interested but he didn’t wanted to give up on her. “Sure, thank you.”
They walked in the appartment and her mind was racing. He was all she had ever dreamed of and she had a feeling that this dream could become true if she would only let it happened but she was afraid it would be bad for her career. She had promised herself a long time ago that nothing would ever come before her job.
“I really like it!” Brian said, looking around.
“Thank you!” Alishia was really proud of it.
Brian walked toward her and gently took her hands. “Alishia, I have something to ask you. I know we don't know each other that well but I really like about you. Could you please give me a chance? Do you want to go out with me?” He looked deep inside her eyes and she did the same thing.
She had always dreamed about this moment. Brian Littrell. Alishia had loved him for as long as she could remember. She had always thougth it was only admiration from a fan to an artist, but she knew it was more than that now. But he was 6 years older than her. Did she knew him or the image he was giving out to his fans? And her career... She had to be honest with him.
"Do you know how old I am?"
He was surprised by the question. "I never really thought about it. I assumed you were about 22 or 23."
"Well, you were wrong. I'm only 18."
He answered quickly. "It doesn't change the way I feel about you."
“Brian, there’s something else I have to tell you. I’ve always wanted to be independant, successfull, have a job, an appartment of my own. I worked hard for this and I finally have it. I’m not ready to let it go. Even for you.”
“That’s not what I’m asking you! All I want is your love. I will never ask you to let go of anything you cherish! Never, I promise.”
She nodded. “I'll go out with you Brian."
He pulled her to him and kissed her gently. A long, sweet kiss that showed her just how much he loved her. “Do you want to come to my house?” Brian asked her between two kisses.
“To do what?”
“Visit, I guess. I want you to meet the guys and show you around.”
“I’d like that.” She smiled and kissed him again. Brian didn’t let go of Alishia’s hand for all the way to his house and he kissed her at every stop.
When they arrived, Nick and A.J. were listning to music. Brian was still holding Alishia’s hand and he was obviously very proud of her. “Nick, A.J., this is Alishia. I'm sure you remember her.”
Nick was already giving her one kiss on both cheeks. “Brian didn’t stop talking about you since you did the interview! He’s really crazy about you, ya know.” In her ear, but loud enough for the others to hear, he whispered: “If he ever starts to drive you crazy with his jokes or whatever, just let me know. I'll defend you anytime!”
“Nick, would you please leave her alone!” Brian pushed him away and put his arm around Alishia’s waist. “He’s always like that, just ignore him. I thought he would grow up someday but it seems that this day won’t come anytime soon. Anyways, do you want to visit the house?”
“Yeah, why don’t you start with upstairs?”
They just ignored Nick and started with the basement. There was a recording studio and a big dance room were they could practice their choreography or have some parties. Then, they went up again to the first floor and Brian showed her the television room, that looked more like a home cinema with the big screen TV and the surround sound system. Finally, they headed upstairs with Nick whistling in the background.
“Is he always like that?” Alishia asked Brian.
“Most of the time. You’ll get use to it honey. He just want some attention.”
“Oh, it doesn’t bother me. He’s kind of cute.”
Brian looked at her. “What do you mean, cute?”
She smiled and kissed him. They entered the bedroom. There were two big windows, the famous water bed, a sound system and closets that were jammed with clothes. She took him by the hand and sat on his bed. Not even thirty minutes had lapsed when someone knocked on the door, interrupting the two lovers in a very private moment.
“Brian? Alishia?”
“Nick, would you leave us alone!” Brian was very mad this time.
“It’s A.J., Brian. Please open the door.” There was panic in his voice.
Brian and Alishia looked at each other and understood they would have to continue this another time. Alishia ran for her shirt, which was on the ground, while Brian said, “Come in A.J.”
“I’m sorry to interrupt. Alishia, someone called for you two minutes ago. A man who wouldn’t identify himself. He asked me to tell you to call your mom right now. It’s urgent.”
Alishia ran to the phone. She dialed her canadian home number and waited.
“Mom, it’s me. What’s wrong? .... Who? ... How? ... “ She bursed into tears and Brian came closer. “How did it happened? ... Is she going to be alright? ... “ She was now crying so hard she had trouble talking and listening to what her mom had to say. Brian took her in his arms while she tried to understand what her mother was telling her. “But how is she? ... Call Pam and tell her I’m on the next plane to Canada.” Brian looked at A.J. with terror in his eyes. Was he already going to loose her? “Bye mom. Ok thanks ... I love you too.” She hanged up and cried in Brian arms for several minutes. She finally explained something to Brian, A.J. and Nick, who had just joined them. “Something happened to Sabrina, my best friend. She had a car accident this morning. My mother told me she went through surgery this afternoon. She lost a lot of blood.” Her blue eyes were filled with pain and it was obvious that she cared a lot for Sabrina. “I have to go Brian. It'll be only for a week or two.” She didn’t wanted to leave him so soon but she had to be there for Sabrina.
“I understand Ali but I’m coming with you. I won’t let you go alone.” He looked very determinated and she didn’t dare say anything. She wanted him to be with her because she knew it would be hard.
“And I’m coming too.” Nick said.
Alishia looked up at him. “You don’t have to come Nick. I'm sure you have better things to do than travelling accross North America for someone you don't even know. It's ridiculous."
“It's not. You're my friend now and if Brian is leaving too, I won't have anyone to tease. No, seriously, I want to go. It'll be boring here and I like Canada. Maybe I can help. And if she’s your friend, she must be good looking!”
Alishia bursed into tears again and Brian gave a killer look to Nick who understood what he had just done. Sabrina was probably not looking her best right now. He walked to her and said: “I’m sorry Ali. I shouldn’t have said that. Let’s go, we’ll have to take you to your appartment if you want to pack.”
She nodded. “Thanks Nick. You too A.J. You’re all very nice to me.”
“Me too?” Brian asked in a small voice.
“Of course you too ... I love you Brian.”
