On Sunday April 16th, I got a call from one of my college friends. Her boyfriend and his mom had just been to the Save the Rain Forest Foundation dinner. My friend relayed his story to me and this is what happened: He got to talk and chat with Ricky Martin and other celebrities but the highlight of the evening was that he was seated directly NEXT to Howie Dorough of the BSB's! They chatted all through the program. He also said that Howie was extremely down to earth, yet looked very well-dressed and he spoke and joked with my friend's boyfriend like they were old friends. The sad thing is, my friend's boyfriend, didnt even flinch when Howie sat down next to him, therefore, didn't think it was a big deal...THEREFORE... did not get an autograph or anythign for me! But still, to know someone that was that close for an extended period of time to a Backstreet Boy is still unreal to me!
The boys won Best Live Act - International at the TMF Awards! (TMF= The Music Factory: a t.v. station here in Holland). It was held on the 15th of April 2000. TMF lets the viewers decide who should win, so it is sort of a peoples choice award. Other nominees in that category were Faithless and Alanis Morisette. It was at the Ahoy (Rotterdam) and it was sold out with more than 10,000 people in attendance. The Boys were not there, but I thought I should let you all know that over here in Holland the Backstreet Pride is still very much alive!
I checked out that weddingchannel.com for the registries of Kevin and Brian and I found some interesting things. The link takes you directly to Kevin and Kristen's so i did a search for Brian and Leighanne's. What did I find? I found two, yes two, Brian Littrells. One was our B-rok and the other was someone else, or so i think. I clicked on it just to see, you know, curiosity, well they have a profile thing you can check out and well guess what i found, the full name of this person is Brian Thomas Littrell, coincidence? i dont know. also, under the groomsmen/ushers, it is listed: Nick, Howie, JC, Chris, and Jamie. Well i dont now who jam ie is but dont we all know who a nick, howie, jc, and chris are? again i ask, coincidence? who knows.Source: WeddingChannel.com Submitted by: EvieSo now because of those findings, i decide to check out what happens when i search for Kevin's and i find 4 kevin richardsons. one of them has wedding logistics that you can check out and there it has the full names of the people, and what does it say for kevin, yup, Kevin Scott Richardson. another couple has wedding logistics but you need a password to see it.
Now mind you, im not saying that these other people registered are fakes, by no means do i want to say that, i just thought that it was very very interesting to see this, and i thought others would too. so I just wanted to let you all know about it.
I thought that i would search for the other three guys of bsb and see what comes up, and guess what, i got results for all of them, quite interesting dont you think. you should check them out. There was only one for howie and it said that it was howie and kevin getting married. there were 3 results for aj and one of them you could access the profile. the middle name is james, and not only that but it says that hes a singer as part of the backstreet boys. so we know that one is not our aj cuz aj isnt getting married and if he were, it would most likely be Amanda, dont you think? the other two didnt have anything but the gift registry. Nick got 2 results, and one of them you can see the profile, the middle name was David, but under groomsmen and bridesmaids there was some interesting names: leslie carter, bj carter, justin timberlake... The other thing too is that is says that he lives in ruskin florida. The other result you have to have passwards to access the information.
Again, I just wanted to share my findings with everyone. it seems that some of us fans are already planning our dream weddings. hmm, maybe I should get cracking before AJ gets married to another fan. hehehe
When you go to the WeddingChannel.com you can search for various wedding parties in their list. I put in Brian Littrell as the groom and *two* results came up. The first one seems to be a fraud, but I am not one to say. The second one is listed as: WALLACE * LEIGHANNE & LITTRELL, BRIAN with the event date on August 23rd, 2000 in Kennesaw, Georgia. They have a registry at Macy's with a huge list of some expensive stuff. For Kevin Richardson, there are four results. The one with Kristin says that they are also registered with Macy's and their wedding is set for June 30th, 2000 in Los Angeles, California. I don't know if this is a reliable source. It seems that anyone can post there.
I am from Louisville, Kentucky, site of the Kentucky Derby (One of the oldest most important horse races). Every year to celebrate, we have one of the, if not the, largest fireworks show in the world. The fireworks are choreographed to go with music, which is generally either really old songs or the biggest of the day. All year I've been telling alone who will listen that the perfect song for Thunder would be our Boys' "Larger Than Life". I am pleased to say that "Larger Than Life" was the second song they played! It fit the fireworks perfectly! The first was "Believe" by Cher. Some of the others were "Smooth" by Santana, "That's The Way It Is" by Celine Dion, and a bunch of older songs (BTW to those of you keeping score at home, they never played one *Nsync song). The fireworks were amazing, and the music this year was the best its ever been.

Some very sad news to pass on...Great Grandma Theresa Phillips Spaulding passed away quietly at breakfast on Thursday morning, April 13 2000, at 8:25. She was with her friends when she died, and a wonderful, kind, gentle soul this woman was with friends, family, and all people alike. We will miss her greatly. Please express any wishes you have in sympathy or condolence to Grampa Doug at douglas@cecomet.net.

In the new EW, they mention Lionel Ritchie and the song he did with the BSB, "Cinderella", which is a Latin-flavored love song. Lionel said he met the boys in Germany when they asked him if they could duet on the song "Easy" at his concert, and the crowd went berserk. He figured if there was that much chemistry between them then, they should do a song. And even if the song may not do well, his son considers him cool again for working with the BSB
Nick Carter was interviewed by DJ Steve Roy on radio station LiteFM 106.7 in New York this evening. The interview is available to download and listen to at the station website. You will need Real Player.
Sting sang a couple of classic Police songs at last night's taping of the VH1 concert, "Men Strike Back" --not with members of his former band the Police but with Backstreet Boys. That's right, one of rock's elder statesman shared the stage on several of his songs -- and Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way" -- with the harmonizing teen dreams. Kevin Richardson of the Boys said that it was an honor to play with Sting, and claimed onstage that he and his bandmates asked him for tips about "tantric stuff."
Barry Manilow is happy with the way bands like the Backstreet Boys, 'NSync and 98 Degrees write the songs. "I hear melodiies again, I hear harmonies again. I actually hear a decent lyric again," he said. "I think they're bringing back hope to people like me who look for the melody and the lyric." Manilow performed Mandy on Monday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for Arista Records' 25th anniversary tribute to founder Clive Davis.
Our AJ Backstreet is as crazy as ever!"I've got this thing at the moment where I'll go into a shop and buy a magazine then when I go to the counter, I'll be like 'hey look, that's me!'.
But sometimes the workers don't believe him... "They're like 'yeah right!'. And I'm like 'no really! It's me. Look!'. I just can't resist it, I'm such a ham,".
BACKSTREET'S THE ONE: You might think that No. 74 is a low debut for one of the hottest boy bands today. And it is, but it isn't the lowest. "The One" enters at No. 74 on The Hits chart becoming the Backstreet Boys' second-lowest debut from "Millennium." "Larger Than Life," which debuted at No. 95, holds that record.
Nanda Lwin's Chart Talk Q & AHi Nanda, I love reading your column (and no that's not a suck up, LOL). I have a question that has been driving me crazy.
In 1998, it was reported that Backstreet Boys album sales had topped 25 million worldwide, yet since the release of 'Millennium' in May 1999 it's been reported they've sold 30 million worldwide. Considering 'Millennium' was reported by Jive Records in July 1999 to have sold in excess of 16 million copies worldwide after just 2 months of release. I find the 30 million figure hard to accept. Do you know what the current sales figures really are? And if you don't mind, what's their status in Canada alone? Sherri, London, Ontario
Sherri: The official word from Vlad Spirkoski of Zomba Records Canada is that the Backstreet Boys have sold 50 million copies worldwide. He didn't mention Canadian figures but it is likely within the three to five million range.
Nick's little brother Aaron will be chatting at the Carter Family Chat Flat, at www.nick-carter.com Sunday, April 16, at 4-6pm Eastern USA time.
Hey! I just figured since everyone was putting in stories of how BSB has fans of all ages, not just teens, that I would too. My neice is 4 now, but when she was 2 1/2 she could point to the Guys and say each one of their names. Now, she sings along to their songs and can actually tell who's singing at what time. Sometimes, when we're at stores or wherever she'll just start singing Backstreet's Back...then screams ALRIGHT! People probably wonder what I've been teaching her lol...but that's okay =) Whenever the BSB are on the radio etc. she'll yell, "Turn it up!" and if it's still not loud enough for her, she'll be like, "Louder!" Of course, her mom isn't to keen on that though because she's afraid it'll damage her ears lol. Last October, I bought tickets for my mom, my sister, and myself to go to the concert. I was going to take my neice but my sister said she wanted to wait until next year just because it's so loud...anyway, Hannah cried..actually, more like bawled because she couldn't go. I promised her that I'll take her next time the Guys around here. Another thing that I think is kind of cute is if you ask her, "Who's your favorite Hannah?" She yell Nick...and Brian! BUT the cutest thing of all is when she says BSB ROCKS NSYNC STINNNNKS! (And no I didn't teach her that lol)
I was talking to my friend on the phone tonight while she was watching Entertainment Tonight. When it showed the Boys singing with Sting, I heard her 7 year old daughter in the background saying "That's their new member!" Of course Mom and I had to laugh! :o) Do you think Sting would mind being called the new member of BSB?

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough is the second member of the group to hint at plans for a solo album, as a full studio LP from AJ McLean looks set to become a reality.Howie D, who is kick-starting an acting career with a role in the film Bloom, said any solo recording would reflect his Puerto-Rican roots. 'I've been asked about possibly doing the Ricky Martin/Gloria Estefan Spanglish thing,' he confirmed.
AJ, who has spoken of plans for a live album under his alias of Johnny No Name, now looks set to enter the studio for a full-length LP of rock covers and new material.
Howie said he is considering a solo tour after making a surprise appearance on stage with AJ at his New York show on Sunday, but was adamant the solo projects will not mean an end to the Backstreet Boys.
'We're a group of five guys, but we always said throughout the whole experience that we would support each other to do individual projects here and there.'
Pop is going theme park crazy, and Backstreet Boys are set to become the first boy band to have their own thrill-a-minute ride.Spiderman creator Stan Lee is planning to build a Backstreet Boys ride simulation as part of a new theme park - where all the rides will be based on his comic book characters. The theme park is likely to be in either Orlando or Los Angeles, while Lee is currently developing the Backstreet Boys into superheroes for the Internet.
Meanwhile, this Friday Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, opens its newest ride, the Men In Black Alien Attack ride featuring the video and voices of Will Smith recreating his film role as Agent Jay. But anyone awaiting the return of Men In Black will have to wait until the summer of 2002.
Will Smith revealed last night that the script for Men In Black 2 is 'really good', but that the sequel is presently without a director.
"We're the No. 1 homo band," joked one of the Backstreet Boys on the Howard Stern show Tuesday (April 11) morning when a dumbass caller asked what the group thought of the "other homo bands." The group displayed their down-to-earth sense of humor with Stern, and even thoroughly enjoyed the two parodies that Stern created of "I Want It That Way" and "(Everybody) Backstreet's Back."When another silly question came in -- "Which one of you slept with Britney Spears?" -- Stern said, "No, wasn't it *NSync?" So the Boys all pointed the finger to *NSync's Justin Timberlake going, "Justin, yeah, him!" Stern also naturally asked how much money the band is making and the answer to that is A.J. McLean's latest purchase for his house: a full-on movie theater. Imagine what's in Lou Pearlman's house!
CyberVenue presents a chat with Mindi Abair, the saxophonist from the Backstreet Boys' band. You may have seen her recently when she played with Johnny NoName and even opened for him! Ask Mindi all your questions about playing with the fellas and all about her solo career on Thursday, April 13th at 7pET/4pPT.
"We asked her what a girl really wants. Unfortunately, it wasn't any of us."-- HOWIE DOROUGH of Backstreet Boys, introducing "What a Girl Wants" chartbuster Christina Aguilera at last night's taping of VH1's "Divas: Men Strike Back."
