"Life is a handful of short stories pretending to be a novel." --Anonymous

From death to marriage, life consists of many challenges. And more often than not, those challenges have a little humour in them. Dark, honest and unlike anything seen on television, THE ENDLESS GRIND exposes the comedic struggle to come to terms with the momentous occasions of life…and the eternal quest to find a half-decent cup of coffee. The 13-episode anthology series from the brilliant comedic mind of Ottawa's Greg Lawrence (KEVIN SPENCER, BUTCH PATTERSON: PRIVATE DICK) premieres Wednesday, October 24 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on The Comedy Network.

Essentially a series of 26 comedic novellas, THE ENDLESS GRIND stars an ensemble cast of some of Canada's most talented comedic actors including Jayne Eastwood, Sheila McCarthy, Jonathan Wilson, Brigitte Gall, Jessica Holmes, Albert Howell, Tracy Dawson and Laurie Elliott.

"THE ENDLESS GRIND pushes the boundaries of television comedy," says Ed Robinson, President and General Manager of The Comedy Network. "Not with respect to content, but with a wholly original and brilliantly realized concept that finds humour in the unlikeliest of places."

Each comic vignette in the series is distinct from the other with an independent cast and storyline, linked only by The Endless Grind coffee shop and its proprietor, Joe. Each episode begins in the coffee shop with Joe's "Quote of the Day" displayed on the chalkboard. The quote reveals the theme of the episode, which is then explored in the two comic fables that follow.

"It may be the cock that crows, but it is the hen that lays the egg," says the Margaret Thatcher quote in "The Endless Grind of Motherhood," the series premiere. The first vignette follows a couple who must decide whether to abort their dog's puppies in order to save her life. In the second, a wife reveals more than she should about her brow-beaten husband while in the throes of labour.

Additional episodic themes throughout the series include "The Endless Grind of Family," in which two lesbians dispense birth control advice to their daughter; "The Endless Grind of Death," in which a coroner gets even with her now-deceased ex-fiance; and "The Endless Grind of Revenge," in which an angry waitress gets back at a rude customer.

Greg Lawrence is the producer, director and writer of THE ENDLESS GRIND, his third series for The Comedy Network. He previously created the comedy noir series BUTCH PATTERSON: PRIVATE DICK as well as KEVIN SPENCER, the animated comedy which returns to The Comedy Network for its fourth season October 7. Lawrence has also written for LIOGRAPHY, starring Leslie Nielsen, and wrote and performed in his own half-hour COMEDY NOW! special JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS for CTV and The Comedy Network.
